Joining the 21st century

Look who’s got his own blog – the entire Department of Defense. That’s pretty cool, you’ve got to admit. Although State has had one since last September. And although in a shocking omission your humble scribe is conspicuously absent from a blog roll that includes the entity known as IntLawGrrls. Who blog on transnational foremothers, apparently, among other things.

Which I’m sure is a fascinating topic.

I should think that merely managing the comments at DoD LIVE will be a full-time job. GS-13, at least.

Whoodathunkit? Really! Good luck to them over there. Not that an official blog is long overdue (it is) I’m just happy they realized they should.

Now if the content just gets a litle edgy (meaning sticking it to the MSM without compromising OPSEC) and not becoming serial PPTs and propaganda, that would be great. We can all use more news and INFO, for sure.

    Thx, CAPT!

    Heh – “GS-13, at least”. I’ll do it for 12! (11, step negotiable…)

(A sharp tongue poses dangers to all but the most hardened cheek…)

But too bad it’s a blogspot site, and thus banned on many military networks.

Well, at least I was in good company in not making the list…

    But Intlawgrrls?

  • DOD does not listen to old retired has-beens!;-})

You need to lobby the VA to start a blog.

  • Lex, not to worry. I will have my blogmate John put the good word in for you so you can join us…

  • Surprisingly enough, it’s not blocked at MNF-West, at least not after 1800. Looks like mostly plugs for the Pentagon Channel.

  • I strongly suspect this has to do more with LTG Cladwell’s influence than the DoD realizing it was a good idea.

He’s been pushing blogging and engaging the media like a champion of the new age over here at the Command and General Staff College.

Interesting that the second story on this blog site as about him. Hmm…

Cool site. About time the DOD caught on. :)

I actually have the IntLawGrrls site bookmarked and read it often (pinko-commie libs. Hee, hee). But the much better milblogs (left out entirely) are yours, Acute politics, Abu Muqawama, and ROK Drop.

Give ‘em time, the DOD is new to this internet blog thingy…

  • Lex:

Just dropped the POC a note. You know, if you’d participate in the blogger’s roundtable every now and then, it might have been up there sooner…why today they even had a topic that was close, geographically that is, to your ‘umble abode. ;)

    Well, now Lex is listed.

    SJS has the power!

  • FbL

Lex, I do hope you’ll consider participating in the roundtables. I think you’d be a tremendous asset to the assembled participants (both questioners and questioned).

  • ELP

Damn… I didn’t see Draw Mohammad Week listed on there.

  • Naw…. come on Lex – SES, baby — SES!

  • Dang, Lex, starting to let it flow, a bit, now that anchor-swallowing time is real soon?

I must buy a high-temp-rated monitor for reading your stuff after you turn in the final papers and _really_ lay on with the capsicum.
