"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche
"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
"Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas
"Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex
Lex … from the beginning of the Democratic primary contest, we, my husband and I, designated Hillary and Barack as Democrat Lite and Democrat Liter, because of their lack of any real experience in governing. Neither of them have ever run a company, run a city, run a state, or spent much time in Congress [two years for Barack, one term for Hillary] . Their experience in the real world of governing people and organizations is Lite to non-existent.
We haven’t seen any need to change our minds over the ensuing contest. Now Obama is up against a Republican candidate who is vastly more experienced in commanding men, in passing legislation [some of which I don't agree with] and all the other techniques necessary to govern successfully. And he evidences painful proof of his courage and steadfastness under cruel and unrelenting pressure from enemies.
All of these qualities are necessary to a President in time of war. He’s not glamorous, not talented at soaring rhetoric as Obama is, or Slick Willie was but, fun as it is to listen to that rhetorical tap-dance, we want a President whom we can count on, when the missiles are threatening and madmen want to blow us up.

I keep thinking about McCain’s appearance on SNL: “Go ahead, fight amongst yourselves.”
If Hillary’s supporters stay home or vote for McCain, this is going to be ugly for Obama.
“Affluent people who give to the Republican Party are advancing their own class interests, whereas those who give to the Democrats generally aren’t.”
No, of course not…they’re Democrats. Any fool can see that.
Tom, that entire article was pure comedy.
It was either that, or cry when I considered that he calls himself a journalist.
“The hatred of George W. Bush on the left–and the eagerness to see him gone–is at this point as extreme as anything the right has to offer. (I know this because I share it.)” Well, at least he acknowledges being an extremist.
Why does ‘presumptuous ass’ come to mind when I read this article?
Michael Kinsley is a tool–I’d also go with “presumptous ass”. I loved his definition of “swift boating” as well.
As long as these “reality challenged”–most definitely not “reality based” tools bray along, then they’re going to have their hat handed to them.
