Suitable to her honor

The UK prepares a state funeral for Lady Margaret Thatcher, but is concerned that there are insufficient forces at home to line the parade route.

Judged by the comments appended to the article, two other things become clear: 1) The Lady remains more popular on this side of the Atlantic than she does in some quarters of the UK, and B) to such a remarkable degree that the troops may be required to perform more than ceremonial duties.

The Iron Lady was never for turning. I always admired her for that, and hope that she continues to grace us with her presence.

…Well, tell ya what – I’d bet the rent money that if they asked for a volunteer contingent of Allied troops to pull that duty, there would be more than enough active and retired US guys alone to do it.

    A magnifcent LEADER.
    A brilliant speaker.
    A staunch Patriot.
    A bold wartime decision maker.
A true friend of the United States.

She has truly earned the appreciation and great respect from this side of the pond.

May she enjoy her remaining days and I pray that there will be many more before the troops need muster.

The Churchill funeral was a awesome scene to watch.

  • I’d don a uniform and help line her route. She’s an incredible woman.

  • This is a great read (pdf) on why both sides of the Atlantic should honor her legacy.

My cousin, Dr. Jonni Levendowski, hsa lived in the Endlish Midlands since the late ’70s. As a vociferous proponent of Women’s Studies, Jonni hated Lady Margaret Thatcher with the sort of white hot burning hatred we usually reserve for the rabid socialist Left.

Be that as it may, Lady Thatcher braved strokes to attend Ronald Reagan’s funeral. If she could demonstrate her friendship to one of our Greatest Presidents, I’ll gladly cross the pond to serve as a route guardian.

And thumb my nose at my cousin.
