Sen. Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator and a figure in Alaska politics since before statehood, has been indicted on seven counts of falsely reporting hundreds of thousands of dollars in services he received from a company that helped renovate his home.

  • There are these tubes. And these tubes deliver truck-loads of cash to your house. But if enough people don’t let the money flow into their homes, then the tubes they will get all backed up.

    I saw the effects when the Alyeska pipeline was still in kit form at Valdez. Was that ’73?

  • I’d put money on the fact that this (the charges contained in the indictment) is just the tip of the iceberg with this man.

    Another example of how the Republicans really did screw up the opportunity given.

    Any chance the Republicans have depends on being different from the Democrats in so many ways. You wouldn’t think it would be that hard. This is the standard stuff you expect to see from the democratic aldermen in Chicago. The Stevens case shows just how much he was just another pol. What an example from the senior Republican senator! There is a significant minority of the conservatives in this country that believes “they deserve to lose” and this guy is another example of what feeds that fire.
