Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

I wish I could be there-but too many other things edged it out and I needed to save the money for other things.
Have a beer or 4 for me and hit on a soft 17!
I’m skipping Tailhook because I would rather go to the Reno Air Races the following week. Unfortunate timing as I am unable to take off two consecutive weeks…
Well, SJS keeps inviting me…
If any one reports that they are… I could use your stories and photos from the front lines for my updates over at The Tailhook Daily Briefing!
As I unfortunately have too many obligations with the “Day Job”… who says management gets all the perks?
-JC
Sure, as long as Paula Coughlin isn’t going to be there…
Roger that!!!
If Cole Cowden’s going I’d go just to keep him supplied with razors and shave cream.
Well, travel budget being what it is these days (and not having access to the airlift) ’twas given the choice – Hook ’08 or 30 yr reunion at that bastion of Southern Learning. So, maybe next year – if the travel fund hasn’t been drained by son#1′s nupitals.

BE603,
Cole Cowden was not the barber-he had a slightly more pronounced Hispanic accent.
“Paula Coughlin. I shaved her legs!-that BEETCH-I shaved her leeggs!”
True conversation witnessed by yours truly in the NAS Norfolk O’club shortly before the speaker went to Admirals Mast.
Here at the Rock nearly all the JO’s and some senior DH’s all departed the pattern this morning for “wing mandated training” at NAS Fallon. The same was said up and down the flight line in all the tactical electronic attack squadrons still around. I would like to go again, went once in 2004 and would like to try and go again.
Nah – saving myself for Vegas, baby.
HF6,
They’re not exactly the Hookers you’re used to, are they?
Bruce ~ most definitely not!
Skippy,
I cruised 2x and flew with him a lot 85-87. Think he was first cruise j.g. ACO on NATOPs checkflight that earned my wings (either him or Butch Legaspi). Cowden impressed me as a hard working guy and a good CICO — if a wee bit high strung on first cruise. No wonder though, the poor sap got stuck with ComSec on that cruise — and lived to tell.
If ever there was shaving cream involved in his vicinity I’m betting he was involved on some level. Give Mr Cowden credit — he always had an outstanding tactical mindset. ;^). He was involved in the best of the Brass Monkey theft type manuevers by 113.
You should have seen him in the Slugs! As Nose can attest to-I was over in the Stalag in those days-while the Slugs were out having fun.
It took Cole Cowden two years plus to finally clear his name after Tailhook.
Here’s hoping life’s good for him.
