Surprise, surprise

An internal Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Department investigation into the PG Sheriff’s Department breaking down a Maryland mayor’s door and slaughtering his two hounds in front of his terrorized mother-in-law after the PG Sheriff’s Department delivered 32 pounds of pot to the mayor’s house in a sting operation targeting a FedEx delivery man, during which raid the PG Sheriff’s Department failed to notify the local constabulary about the raid as would have been appropriate and lied about having a no-knock warrant for the search has found that there was no error on the part of the PG Sheriff’s Department in the shootings.

Bullshit.

Hey, “Old-Timer”, you’re starting to sound CYNICAL. The more you know, the worse you’ll get.

Oh, by the way, Welcome Aboard!

  • No error by the PG Sherriff’s department? I think they smoked some of that weed before they delivered it… the bastards.

IIRC your Feds had started their own investigation, methinks they’re yet to feel the rough end of the pineapple.

PG County — anal sphincter of Maryland.

    The Free State — hah!

Sometimes, I weep for the future of the American justice system. . .

Hey Lex, that’s one heck of a sentence!

  • lex

The first one, or the second?

    ;-)

  • Well, the second one ain’t really a sentence, except maybe colloquially.

I’ve been following this at Radley Balko’s place since it started, and it just chaps my Scots-Irish Aspie ass to the point of quite-literally hoppin’ mad jumping up and down.

Right is right and wrong is wrong, dammit!

Yah, I know there are ambiguous ill-defined borderline cases, and all, but this is just WRONG!

“Sometimes, I weep for the future of the American justice system. . .”

    Me too.

Also, the militarization of the modern day police dept. is something we all need to be afraid of….be very afraid.

Every time you see a decision like this, you will also find a corrupt local government. Dig a bit deeper, the story will get much, much worse.

I am not normally sympathetic to a guy who shoots and kills a cop, but this tale stinks almost as bad as the PG county story.

Now, the prosecutor is looking for a change of venue — I will allow my fellow gentle readers to come to their own conclusion as to the cause of that unusual move.

  • Scott, if I could afford to spend money on anything but food for me and my kitty at the moment, you betcha I’d shoot some money toward Mr. Frederick’s defense fund. ‘specially since a Gulfstream II just crashed in the Yucatan with a coupla or three tons of cocaine aboard, and it was obviously owned by a dummy firm based in FL, which the Feds are not investigating, the least little bit.

I hate to seem like Skippy, but I do believe that there are some right awkward bastards in the covert, or “black”, parts of the U.S. government, who may well have let their cupidity run away with them, it being all covered up by anonymity and deniability.

M’self? I believe in “tell the truth and shame the devil”,

    or, say nothing at all

  • P.s. Yeah, I know we have to fight some evil people, but, well,

    Keep it clean, dammit!

Guy, I feel exactly the same way about police forces which take on the appearance of paramilitary organizations. Buzzed heads, cool shades, bloused combat boots, fingerless gloves seem to be “the look”. Frankly, these days I take more notice and give far more respect to the seasoned, level-headed peace officer with the traditional uniform (and some hair!) that conveys the message that he/she is a stalwart friend of the law-abiding citizenry. I still think there’s much to be said for the apparently outdated requirement that officers live in their jurisdictions.

Gee, Lex, I’m not sure now that you ask…

The first one has so much information, but the second is chocked full of emotion! I get the sentiment from the second, so I’m going with #2.

Maybe it was the three hours sleep, but that sentence hurt. There should be a No-Knock for that run-on-sentence.

I find it very hard to swallow the negativity being talked in this super liberal reader. You all haven’t a clue of any and all of the facts. F.Y.I. to all you clueless uppity types. First all of you should have done some more research before opening your mouths. Second I would like for everyone to know this from the beginning was a PGPD operation by way of there Narcotics unit. The Sheriffs role in all of this was only to provide Special Weapons And Tactics otherwise known as SWAT protection to and for the PGPD Narcotics Agents. The info provided to the Sheriffs was very simple. The package delivery service intercepted a box containing a large quantity of marijuana. This package was labeled to be delivered to the mayors house. This investigation and the final delivery was conducted and completed by PGPD. In any entry conducted by any SWAT team SAFETY comes first. If the Mayors dogs showed any intentions of aggression such as growling, barking, and or advancements toward the Deputies. Deputies are trained to protect themselves. Let us remember, well you the clueless ones don’t know any better, but the first line of defense for a drug dealer is the dog at the location of their operation. Another point that none of you haven’t taken into consideration is to be a member of any SWAT team, these men and women are the best of the best within their agency. To talk so reckless about their actions without knowing the facts is purely and completely disrespectful. This is a unit with the highest level of training and discipline. NOW YOU ALL MAY BEGIN WRITING YOUR THOUGHTS
