The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Relocating?Military members find information on homes for military by visiting Military Homes.com For the Effort!Subscribe![]() Tagsafghanistan AGW Araby army Blogging buffoonery china culture economy Flying Friday Musings geopol GWOT Headlines health care History iran iraq issues Media Memory Lane Military Navy norks Oz pakistan piracy politicians politics Politics and Culture pundits Russia science seals sea stories silliness Small Stuff SoCal sport technology UAVs UK usaf usmc weapons WP Cumulus Flash tag cloud by Roy Tanck and Luke Morton requires Flash Player 9 or better. |

Didn’t seem to try too hard for that map, did he? What about a little negative G, rapid decel…something. Talk about low, slow & outa ideas.
Below for headwork.
On my private checkride the C152’s door popped open just after rotation and some 10 feet in the air. of course, charts were between L. leg and open door. Fortunately, wind kept door tight against leg until I could retrieve said chart, which was a good thing. Fortunately, the DPE passed me, and I now have a piece of plastic with portraits of Wilbur and Orville.
You should look for a video on youtube for the instructor screaming at his student to TURN THE HEAT OFF! That one’s a peach, too.
Hey, I’m no pilot, but couldn’t he just roll the plane over and let gravity do the work?
/just sayin’
Harvy Hamfist gets PINKED!
“Don’t punch yourself out.”
Good advice in nearly any context, I imagine.
MajHarvey – a little negative g?
Yeah. That could work.
I know I’m showing the old frack I am for remembering this Pepsi Top Gun ad, but I think it fits…

A little ways back, two guys landed at the grass strip airport where I frequent. They got out of their plane and were white as sheets. After takeoff and climbout the yoke jammed as they tried to level off. As they tried to force it they felt something grind and snap. . The regained elevator control coinciding with the loss of control of their sphincters. They aborted the trip and gingerly brought it back in on a straight in approach and uneventful landing.
The resident A&P found a ballpoint pen in pieces under the floorboards that had jammed a cable and pulley.
That got my attention. I can not only see but touch the control cables in the cockpit in my little bugsmasher so I am really careful about any loose stuff thereabouts.
@Chris- I am very happy I took the time to look up that video. great stuff.
