A little ways back, two guys landed at the grass strip airport where I frequent. They got out of their plane and were white as sheets. After takeoff and climbout the yoke jammed as they tried to level off. As they tried to force it they felt something grind and snap. . The regained elevator control coinciding with the loss of control of their sphincters. They aborted the trip and gingerly brought it back in on a straight in approach and uneventful landing.
The resident A&P found a ballpoint pen in pieces under the floorboards that had jammed a cable and pulley.
That got my attention. I can not only see but touch the control cables in the cockpit in my little bugsmasher so I am really careful about any loose stuff thereabouts.
