Song for the Dear Leader

Choreography courtesy of Kim Chong Il.

The creepiness factor is non-trivial.

All we need now are some of those lovely red scarves.

Welcome to The One’s vision of America’s schools.

How long before our food gets rationed, our health care gets rationed, our fuel gets rationed, certain foods and products are banned, and everyone is required to fall in each day for PT and words of wisdom from the Fearless Leader?

The only thing missing is his “Little Red Book”. I’m sure it’s only an oversight…..

These people do NOT deserve our Constitution.

As a music teacher of children that age who taught children do things that blew their parents’ minds, I can tell you that took MONTHS of preparation. Random children do not learn to sing songs as complicated as that (plus choreography!) in just two weeks’ rehearsal.

The only way I’d believe they did that in two weeks is if it was a group of carefully-screened children who were both musically gifted and had experience in excellent children’s choirs. The performance IS a little ragged, but it’s far beyond what could be expected of “typical” children with two weeks’ rehearsal. Just matching pitch and blending like they do in the opening takes LOTS of training and simply time together to get used to each others’ voices.

    I call BS.

Glad to see they’ve all read Obama’s point papers and considered his speeches. I’m thinking they’re ready to serve in the House.

Can we get the blue ladies from The Producers to do a number for McCain?

  • Schroedinger's Cat

I could only make it about 30 seconds in. One thing I noticed – the look on the soloist’s face when she finished. Kind of a “Did I do a good job, Mommy? Can I go outside and play now?” look. Disgusting.

Oh, and what does “we’re going to rearrange it” mean?

  • Larry

Chilling, absolutely chilling. The out and out worship directed at this man is simply beyond anything I’ve ever seen. He hasn’t done a damn thing yet, and you’d think he’s cured cancer, filled all the bellies, and guaranteed acceptance into leftist Paradise. Truly, to modify Chesterton’s quote, those who have no religious beliefs will believe in anything, and are apparently incredibly desperate to do so.

I shudder to think what kinds of young adults those kids are going to make. The phrase that came mind…..Obama-Jugend.

Can anyone tell if the flute player had a ponytail?

Talk about your Venice Beach stereotypes…. good lord.

I wonder if the choreography was ASL to make it extra inclusive for their differently abled friends?

  • OMG…
Hey, has anyone checked out if this was a campaign violation? Was it done on school property during school hours using taxpayer-funded teachers?

Looks like the kids of the last remaining breeders of that food market you went to last weekend — well-off, cute, and too easily impressed.

Most appear to suffer from BA Syndrome — caused by wearing Birkentocks while eating Arugula. Just look at those glazed eyes, the poor kids.

Be thankful they can’t vote, right now. Hopefully, some of them will smarten up with age.

  • Cute kids….
Welcome to the brave new world…….

  • SJBill, wanna bet they can’t vote?

  • Jesus

I’m with Larry. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life (short as it is, you know, by comparison).

    AW1 Tim,

Food rationing? Check out this new British report in the Guardian recommending that, in order to fight global warming, meat must be rationed to four (4) portions/week and milk also!

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2008/sep/30/food.ethicalliving

Brave New World indeed…..but it’s not limited to the NORKO’s……”enlightened” thought is everywhere–especially for those who have “The Vision of the Anointed.”

Food rationing? Check out this latest British recommendation in today’s Guardian that in order to protect the environment meat be rationed to four (4) small portions/wk and milk also!

    Brave New World indeed….”enlightened” views
not being limited to the NORKOs…….especially when our self-identified social bettors are possessed of “The Vision of the Anointed.”

Yes we can? No, you can’t!

  • When was the last time anyone read 1984?

The parallels with that book and the posturing of the current campaign is absolutely striking. When Republicans can’t walk down a street in NYC without being abused and hateful gestures and yelling directed their way like some sort of “Two Minute Hate” period. When pies get thrown at conservative speakers, and tires get slashed only on Republican vehicles, and hero worship is directed at one candidates visage. The Stalinist parallels of the press (Pravda and the NY Times have more in common today than ever before). The threatened prosecutions and intimidation of conservative or Republican folks for blasphemy against Big Brother!

You just can’t make this stuff up, you know.

1984 didn’t end so well for the hero either. No Freedom. Where is Braveheart when you need him?

News from the “Sing for Change” website:

As Sunday approached, a neighbor volunteered a home. Production wizards got wind of the project and offered their help in recordingit. The likes of Jeff Zucker, Holly Schiffer, Peter Rosenfeld, Darin Moran, Jean Martin, Andy Blumenthal, and Nick Phoenix rearranged schedules to participate. Holly Schiffer was able to get three High Definition cameras (Panasonic HVX250’s), and an AVID editing facility. When Jeff Zucker went to pick up the camera package, Ted Schilowitz happened to be there and offered a RED camera set up on a SteadiCam.

That Jeff Zucker dude mentioned? The guy with three spare HD cameras lying around? Only the head of NBC.

The frightening thing is ( I would wager ) that those kids believed every word they were singing…..and if they didn’t know the meaning, I’m sure the parents or director were more than willing to enlighten them.

FbL….gotta agree with you. Those kids didn’t learn that over-night. They were either very talented, or had six weeks to learn the music. I’ve sung in choirs all my life, and that kinda stuff doesn’t come easily.

  • Subsunk,

I’m pretty sure David Axelrod read 1984 recently. But he didn’t think it was depressing.

  • FirstShirt

    **Gag** God help my country!

    (Troop! Prepare to mount!)

  • SJBill

Yeah, that was Jeff “Peacock” Zucker, of NBC. Not only with HD cameras, but steadicams as well.

    Everybody’s got those.

And the adults and kids all have glazed eyes, you know, like some Mac users. ;-)

  • One word comes to mind… creepy.

They are called “The Left” for a reason, folks. They are out there….far far out there. So far out that they don’t even realize where they are, they just know that anyone to their right is a conservative nutcase. It says so in their little red books.

  • Christy

This is so disturbing, possibly one of the most disturbing things I’ve seen in years, if not ever.

  • claudio

We used to sing like that when I was a kid.

Only difference is that we wore white shirts and a red scarf and were called “pioneers”. And the communist machine made us do it, same as it did with everything else it controlled. The only difference is even at the age of 6 I knew it was BS. These kids, not so much.

Glad that at least in my schools, my 4 year old says the Pledge every morning with “under God” still part of the verse.

I couldn’t bear to watch the whole thing…

  • I’m speechless. I really am.

  • MissBirdlegs in AL

I couldn’t watch it all, either. Creepy and very scary. I may never drink Kool-Aid again!

  • YouTube (or the submitter) pulled the video. Interesting.

I thought I was seeing the Choir of the Venice, CA Chapter of the Young Pioneers.

BTW, I think I saw this linked on Drudge last evening.

My oldest daughter is a college freshman this year, at a local state university. (can you call them both? never mind.)
The incoming class were all given 1984 at the orientation in July (those that attended) and told that a 500 word essay on one of several questions, their choice, was due the first week of classes. The deadline was pushed back…and back…but I was glad to see them reading it.
I knew the basic story but had never stopped to read it…started it as soon as she finished.
I find it terrifyingly real, so I haven’t finished yet. I read a few (tens of) pages then stop…..and have been having nightmares.
    sigh.
