Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Heh,
Looks like a new Keystone Cops act for Barnum & Bailey’s Circus…..
Prolly not the idea the Segway folks had in mind for their product.
Silly Chinese
Our family attended a ship’s commissioning recently at Coast Guard Island Alameda. Guests of honor included Secretary Chertoff and Commandant Allen, so security was pretty tight. Well, the Coasties had a security detachment which was mounted on what appeared to be heavy duty Segways. Theses guys were packing major heat, and they were quite mobile.
First time I saw this image of ChiCom security forces at the Olympics, I laughed my assticles off. After seeing motivated pros in action, I have a slightly different POV. These are effective crowd management tools, and enable very rapid response to trouble areas.
NYPD, baby — Nock Your Punk-ass Down!
Riding a Segway while firing a gun? Lotta chances for Ooopsies there.
Marianne
They use segways to protect the jelly bean in Chicago. They’re fast, quiet and give the rider an extra few inches over the crowd.
Surprisingly, chicks seem to dig them. I saw a surprising number of attractive ladies chat the guards up.
Son is in Navy EOD. They use Segways with the knobby tires. It makes investigating a suspicious item out in the boonies a might easier when wearing a 85 pound bomb suit. Also saves on gas when zipping over to the NEX on your lunch hour. For “official” business of course.
I’ll bet the up-armored version doesn’t turn so well…
@Zane: The one’s protected from land mines look like giant snow saucers, no?
Zane:
An up-armored Humvee saved his and his teams fannies in Anbar a few years ago. He didn’t care about the turn radius. That’s for fighter pilots.
Looks uncomfortable. Any of you guys ridden a pogo stick as an adult?
That is the kind of vehicle a Coastie would ride….

Easy there, smart guy.
