Election Day Blogging

I don’t have the heart for it, and it has nothing to do with politics. Head on over to Drudge for your daily dose of outrage.

Plenty there to go around.

Update: Too soon for this?

Update 2: My one and only prediction for this campaign: If John McCain appears to have lost the election by a slim margin in a crucial state, he won’t throw the country into a constitutional crisis for 43 days cherry-picking dangling chads.

Country first, and that.

Barack Obama? Eh.

Anyone that hasn’t already gone to the polls, it would be nice of you to thank the poll workers. I did, I thanked them for their service. They seemed very happy to hear my compliment. Without the poll workers, we wouldn’t be able to vote. They deserve our gratitude.

Must be entropy catching up with you Lex. You sure are getting maudlin. It ain’t over ’til its over. Its over when that magic “270″ flashes up on the screen. THEN you can get nostalgic, maudlin, or drunk. Maybe all three.

Until then, Hope! Hope that there are enough Americans out there to actually make this a decisive election one way or the other. Otherwise I think that prediction from the doomsayers about riots in the streets will make Watts look like a kindergarten celebration.

Wait! Watts is in YOUR neighborhood……

Hell, I’d welcome robot overlords before I’d welcome what’s coming…

and speaking of robot overlords….did I really see something about Keanu Reeves in a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still?

Maybe the plot line could show this as the crisis confronting our new President in his first six months.

  • Seems to me the plot must be different than the first Day the Earth Stood still movie. I saw the previews when I went to see “W” last weekend. In the first movie Klatu saves the world. In this one it seems like the war is already on the way.

The ‘hook’ is that Reeves plays Gort not Klaatu. Reeves is playing to his strengths that way.

Klaatu (Michael Rennie) was the alien, Gort was the tinny looking superman with no lines….. just for those of you with too much real life to remember the names of robots etc.

    Nose,

A good point, but rather than robots I favor Kodos and Kang as overlords.

Even the great Kent Brockman endorsed them!

Well, neither Senators McCain or Obama have a Governor brother (still desperately trying to win Pop’s and Mom’s approval) possibly in an adulterous relationship with his Secretary of State in charge of vote /s/u/p/p/r/e/s/s/i/o/n/ counting, either.

Poppy’s Approval first, and all that.

Ahhh, tried to post a pix, but no joy.

    At least it’s not close.

At least the trains will run on time. The Amtrak ones at least.

  • So, if the Obama supporters were going to move in mass to Canada if McCain won … where do the rest of go?

    How about Zimbabwe?
I hear it used to be nice there…

Ummm…. BC? I’ve been drinking tonight. Not heavily — just a couple of Black and Tan’s while perusing the news and jotting down notes for work tomorrow, but I don’t wish to discount the possibility that I may not have read you right.

“Keanu Reeves in a remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still?” Is that what you said?

Sorry, the only words coming to mind are…

    Klaatu Barada Dorko!

I think I’ll have another, for medicinal purposes of course — I’ll help erase that vision.

Within 20 minutes of the concession speech the headline on the Fox news site was that Obama inherits the worst economy in 70 years. Kind of spotting a trend here…

I’ll make a prediction. No matter how bad things get, foreign policy or economy or health care or auto sales, “It’s George Bush’s fault” will be the reason trotted out for the next 8 years. It will take another 20 before historians begin to write about his successes.

Probably 10 before anybody mentions he faced an opposition Congress.

This would seem to be along the time-line that things were blamed upon Clinton and for the same reasons.

Without scapegoats there is a very real risk that people might discover we are masters of our fate, captains of our soul.

Tough sell, that. Still, seeing a pattern here….
