Interested in your “blog type“?
Here’s me, theoretically – an ISTP “Mechanic”:
The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generelly prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.
The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.
Maybe that’s just how I write, because I’ve been most often tested to an INTJ. And the results came back in a suspiciously short time.
Plus I drive motorcycles, not race cars.
As if.

Took one of these tests during a leadership course and I think I was primarily an ENTJ.
Your description makes sense for way this blog is written and your background. (not a bad thing)
BTW what kind of M/C do you ride? I’m in the industry and ride green ones.
I’m a “Doer” according to the little site. Which they correlate to an ESTP which couldn’t be more wrong. My Myer-Briggs is an INFP. Which I guess means my blog is my alter ego – the Hyde to my Jekyll.
Hmm…a little too deep I think.
Triumph, is it?
I’ve got BMW R1150GS, because I’m only allowed to have one. Great commuter, fun in the twisties, and can even take some light off-road work. Fire roads and such.
Not so much in the real soft stuff, at least by yourself. It’s damned heavy, hard to kick off and non-trivial to get back up on two wheels.
Don’t ask me how I know.
And wouldn’t he love to upgrade to the R1200GS? Fifty more cc’s, and fifty fewer pounds?
Yes. Yes he would.
That was amusing.
You’re right, they are beyond suspiciously fast. But just for fun I did it twice, once for my Free Falling blog and once for the legal one. They are very different blogs and I wondered if they would both come back with the same answer. To their credit they didn’t.
I was “ISTP – The Mechanics” on the legal blog but “ESFP – The Performers” based on Free Falling. Which makes some sense, I suppose. After all I really only started Free Falling because I got tired of being professional all the time on the legal blog. And the ISTP might help explain that urge to skydive and live vicariously through some other’s [ahem ] pursuits.
BTW on The Performers one, it says “They tend to avoid conflicts and rarely initiate confrontation – qualities that can make it hard for them in management positions.” Which means everybody should be extra nice to me around here, right?
I found the Myers-Briggs test to be helpful to me personally. I usually test as an ISTJ, but my blog came out to be ESTP.
There is no way I’m an ‘E’ anything. I’m a software developer, one of the most ‘I’ occupations known to man.
I think it’s because most of my posts over the last couple of years have been about flying or motorcycles. Or perhaps it is looking for active voice in our posts.
INTP here, like most folks of some degree of autitude; at least those of us who aren’t INTJ.
One’s score can change over time; I recall The Donovan claiming to be INTP, but INTJ when a Battery commander. I mean, you really do have to be judgmental from time to time when commanding people to, among other things, go run in front of that bullet.
This blog must be written by my alter-ego….
According to the Typealyzer, the author of this here blog is of type…ESTP – The Doers The active and play-ful type. They are especially attuned to people and things around them and often full of energy, talking, joking and engaging in physical out-do…
“INTP – The Thinkers
The logical and analytical type. They are especially attuned to difficult creative and intellectual challenges and always look for something more complex to dig into. They are great at finding subtle connections between things and imagine far-reaching implications.
They enjoy working with complex things using a lot of concepts and imaginative models of reality. Since they are not very good at seeing and understanding the needs of other people, they might come across as arrogant, impatient and insensitive to people that need some time to understand what they are talking about. ”
All well and good until the last sentence…then, not so much.
i took the test once, but got an “F” in everything.
go figure!
Michelle: “Which means everybody should be extra nice to me around here, right?
” I’ll volunteer. Nice avatar.
Here’s mine if you’re interested, Lex. ISTP too, but slightly different brain graphic. Hmmm.
Gotta admit though, most fits–skydiver, firefighter, motorcycles–although I “generelly” prefer to depend on people who can at least spell if I’m going to have my brain delved into.
Those are nice bikes, but I’ve never gotten a chance to ride a GS. Closest was a KTM 950 Adventure – perma-grin inducer.
Green = Kawi. Anything from a KLX450 to a Concours 14 so far.
Yep… Mechanic for “Carmichael’s Position” and same for “Tailhook Daily Briefing”… go figure, same dude writes both… except those guset appearances by SJS… but I’ll bet two E-2C’s he’s a Mechanic too…

Sorry John — that’ll be $130M (cash please)
I’m a solid INTJ as revealed in numerous Briggs Meyers in and out of uniform, but the analyzer calls me an ESTJ – The Guardians:
The organizing and efficient type. They are especially attuned to setting goals and managing available resources to get the job done. Once they´ve made up their mind on something, it can be quite difficult to convince otherwise. They listen to hard facts and can have a hard time accepting new or innovative ways of doing things.
The Guardians are often happy working in highly structured work environments where everyone knows the rules of the job. They respect authority and are loyal team players. ESTJ
- SJS
ISTJ on the Myers-Briggs both for mil schools and civ employment.
Sandi, I’m afraid that last sentence is pretty accurate in my case. We extremely earnest socially awkward folks may have invented the Internet, but we just don’t get no respect, nor laid.
My “blog type” is a “Doer” – ESTP. Myers-Briggs has me as an ESTJ. Close. Nice to know I’m consistent.
ISTP – The Mechanics here too.
Thanks SpazSinbad.
Now that’s more like it.
My blog came out as an ESFP. Whereas in Meyer’s Briggs I may hover between I and E, depending on what I’m doing when I take it (what mode), I am most definitely not an ‘F’. But my blog is very feely… since I blog on my life. ‘Tis easier to put weird crap out there when you don’t actually have to look people in the eye.
In real life I’m either an ESTJ or an ISTJ. I’ve tested both ways.
ESTP for the blog…INTP twice across several years for M-B professional assesments. Interesting…but like most “quickies,” not all things are taken into account to describe the performance in its totality…
