How is watching her interview any different from watching CSPAN? Both can be crude to the uninformed.

I think this whole 'conversation' is weird. I mean why is it a big deal that they were slaughtering turkeys behind her? This wasn't her government office, it was a turkey slaughterhouse. Maybe that's what they actually do at such places? DUH!

I thought the interview was suppose to be about what the interviewee says. Criticize that if you want ... I guess they didn't really have anything to criticize there. She didn't sound particularly supid to me. So they had to come up with something else? And 'blame' her for being interviewed where they found her? After pardoning a turkey.

Now quite frankly, that's what I think is weird. Pardoning a turkey. Uh huh. What 's the message there? May you go forward and prosper?

So I always feel like I should preface my comments with a statement of creds--so here goes, I too have skinned, gutted, scaled, cleaned, butchered and otherwise rendered many an animal body.

While the media response is interesting,
I want to bring a different slant to this...let's step back and consider the following: Sarah Palin was in media herself. She has spent time on both sides of the camera. Anyone who has been interviewed for television cameras any number of times knows that you need to do a 360 and take in what is around you and quickly calculate how that will fit into the message you want to communicate...if you don't, visual images you do not want can overwhelm your message.

SO, you can take this clip in one of two ways:

1. There is a reason that Sarah Palin is no longer in journalism--she's too clueless.

2. That Sarah Palin framed that shot with the turkeys being slaughtered intentionally as a way to reiterate the "I'm just a basic country girl with country girl values", message she was giving in her verbal presentation.

Given the supportive comments and warm rememberances of past-poultry-slaughters expressed here, she effectively communicated to her base, therefore, suggesting interpretation number 2.

Milk comes in cartons, bacon bits in shaker cans, meat wrapped by the butcher and turkeys are buttered with "pop-up" timers. Food for the Eloi... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eloi.

I'm with Q'master when he cites Ann Althouse when she recognizes the masses, as candy "without the 'm'."

Of course, the politically correct won't "man-up" and learn how to do this: http://artofmanliness.com/2008/11/20/how-to-cook-and-carve-a-thanksgiving-turkey-like-a-man/#more-1097.
