    Somebody wasn’t hungry…

FYI, according to My Good Wife the zoologist the hyenas killed by the alpha male lion were first the hyena alpha female and then her daughter, who’d taken over the pack. This apparently indicates what we’d normally call an “alpha strike” aimed at leadership and control, much like human military units would to do disrupt the CCC chain, but from within the animal kingdom.

That’s what she tells me. I sort of scratching my head over the chain of command in a pack.

I dunno, I’m an engineer — all I know is the hyena didn’t bring enough gun, and if you want proof My Good Wife is crazy all you have to do it ponder that she married me.

Note the hyenas turned into the fight even though overwhelmed. Never give up.

  • Never ever give up. No matter who the enemy is.

Does your posting this mean The Kat has finally “convinced” you to stay in Sandy Eggo?

  • lex

Ah, we are at an impasse on that topic. Merely adds to the stress level.

Throw another straw on. This camel can take it (*creak*).

Maybe you can get Dago to seceed from California and then pass some sane tax legislation.

Seriously, the gun and tax laws would be enough to get me out of Cali. The rest is just insane icing on the cake.

Go where she can have a horse and Kat will thank you.

Just a small techinical observation…..but that is not a Hyena. Those of us from Texas and currently in AZ would know them as Javelinas, but in Africa, I suspect it is a wild Peccary of some sort.
Lex will soon be introduced to the wily Javalina, rather tasty too properly barbequed.

Lex, I’d say you should throw your eagles at her, and stand your ground, man of the house and all that, but I won’t…I’m married too ;)

  • Quartermaster

If he tries to pull rank on her he’ll be finished. Just do it, and have a horse waiting on the other end. She won’t know if she should rip your throat out, or hug you. I’ll bet she hugs you.

My father retired in March of 71 and moved us from San Antonio to Gallatin, TN. It wasn’t fun, but I took it in stride. Gallatin High was my third HS. I’ve known people who had it worse than me (one guy has 6 HS when he graduated). AF and Army tend to move more as you can go PCS in the Navy and never leave home, so to speak. Not so in the AF. I moved, on average, every two years before I granulated HS.

To show my extreme displeasure at being dragged from pillar to post, I enlisted in the Navy. Showed him!

Seriously, it din’t bother him. Two of my uncles had been in the Navy. The oldest was a Corpsman with the 1st Marines on Guadalcanal, and the other retired from the Navy. The younger one was an Airedale. Created a serious scandal with the AF contingent of the family. I was OK since I was blackshoe.

One more thing…I will not give you advice on whether or not to move. It is your family, your life, not mine, not ours. I love where I live, but you and yours might not. Whatever decision you and you’re family makes will be yours and yours alone…and it will be a good and wise one. We have faith in you, Skipper.

  • Lex,

I really think you should take the Kat and one of her BFFs to TX on a bonding weekend. You get quality time with her, she gets to take a friend on vacation, and she gets to see that Texas isn’t weirder than the surface of Venus.

  • BMG Mike

    Old Sky Dog,

I think the aggressor is a wart hog. Methinks the A10 is probably aptly named: aggressive as hell, with a lot of fight in a small package.

We have some feral hogs (domestic hogs gone wild) here in TX that are pretty mean, also. It doesn’t take long for all of the domestication to go bye-bye. I know a guy who shoots them from ground level with a handgun. Not much time for a second shot. His are bigger than mine.

  • Marianne Matthews

Lex and BMG Mike … My Texan husband agrees with Mike. Looks like a wart-hog to him, too.

Sometimes, big, beautiful and elegant doesn’t get the job done … And ugly and determined does. That wart-hog guy is certainly determined. And his mate probably thinks he’s beautiful too.

It’s a wart-hog, pretty sure. Phacochoerus africanus, as they’re known. Very quick sprinters, and those lower tusks can be deadly.

The hyenas I was referencing above were those in the YouTube video I’d posted a link to.

In that video the kitties were not so passive.

I’m looking at leaving the Golden State on retirement, voluntary or otherwise, in the increasingly-near future.

My wife is resisting the notion. (Moving, not my eventual retirement.)

  • Warthog, and a young one, at that.

New Caption: “Proving once again that a FuzzybearLioness has enough sense to retreat from an MCP helicopter pilot.”

    Heh.

  • FbL

BillT, you are a riot (as usual). :P

The thing is, as much as you try to prove otherwise, I don’t think you resemble a warthog at all….especially not an angry one. ;)

  • Speedy little dickens? Check.

    Thick skin? Check.

    27-inch zipper? Ummmm — no.

    Okay, *not* a warthog…

    *grumpf*
