Directs a documentary about Nixon. Links it thematically to Bush. Awaits the plaudits of an amazed world. Get’s no love from Fox News’ Chris Wallace:
“Richard Nixon’s crimes were committed purely in the interest of his own political gain,” Mr. Wallace told Mr. Howard before an audience of a few hundred after viewing the filmmakers new film “Frost/Nixon,” which is about the only U.S. president to resign from office.
“I think to compare what Nixon did, and the abuses of power for pure political self preservation, to George W. Bush trying to protect this country — even if you disagree with rendition or waterboarding — it seems to me is both a gross misreading of history both then and now,” Mr. Wallace said.
Apart from that, though, Bush did abuse presidential power in much the same way that Nixon did. Good job, Opie!
For Opie’s next opus, he will go on to show that Bush puts his pants legs on one at a time. Just like Adolf Hitler!!!1!

My respect for Chris Wallace went up a notch or two when I read that. Much better man and journalist than his father. Although I’m pretty sure we don’t see eye-to-eye on several things, I’ve respected him for his fairness before and he does a better job than most of not letting his personal outlook show… you know, like a good journalist ought.
The list of people from Hollywood whose work I am willing to pay to see is getting shorter and shorter.
RLTW
Opie mada a commercial supporting Obama and dissed President Bush. While I enjoyed him on Mayberry and Happy Days…that’s it, he’s Susan Sarandon in a pair of pants.
Watch it Lex! We know that, just like Stalin, and Castro you put your pants on one leg at a time as well.
Opie is just another brain addled Hollywierd type.
Bush merely adapted the age-old maxim, “The best defense is a good offense”, whether justified by the evidence history may never reveal… or not. The facts are that for the past 7 years, we have not been attacked here in our homeland.
Whenever people recognize and appreciate that simple truth, they’ll understand the contribution “W” has made to us. He did nothing against the law and there is no comparison or parallel with him and Nixon, regardless of what Opie says or thinks!
Iraq happened. We had many of the enemy in one place and we could go there to deal with them. If it comes down to nothing more than Bush being on the “offense”, it was a good thing and history will affirm the merit of the effort.
Opie and his ilk, notwithstanding.
It’s also worth remembering that the Republic looked to be in a much shakier state back in 1968. Not to justify Nixon’s excesses, but it ain’t paranoia if they’re really out to get you.
