Thomas Friedman writes a couple of provocative, if ultimately ludicrous paragraphs today in his Op-Ed on the terror tragedy in Mumbai. He’s wondering when Rage Boy will take to the streets on protest of the slaughter of innocents:
Who in the Muslim world, who in Pakistan, is ready to take to the streets to protest the mass murders of real people, not cartoon characters, right next door in Mumbai?
After all, if 10 young Indians from a splinter wing of the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party traveled by boat to Pakistan, shot up two hotels in Karachi and the central train station, killed at least 173 people, and then, for good measure, murdered the imam and his wife at a Saudi-financed mosque while they were cradling their 2-year-old son — purely because they were Sunni Muslims — where would we be today? The entire Muslim world would be aflame and in the streets.
The two cases are obviously quite different because, well.
Because.
Exactly. Just, well, because.
What a sorry state of affairs.
That’s just crazy talk, suggesting they should get riled up over mass murder like they did over a couple of silly editorial cartoons.
What’ s next? Expecting the Muslim world to stop feeling sorry for itself and blaming America for its plight?

Dunno. Seems to me to be the most reasonable thing I’ve ever read from Friedman. As I’m sitting at breakfast table in Germany last week, USA Today, the worthless rag that it is, prints a letter from some dippy chick in Berkely, CA (one more reason to leave CA) blaming the massacre on the awful way the Indians have treated the Muslims. Even the German socialist rags have more sense than that.
