I admit ignorance regarding Islam to know if its overall tenants include wanting each and everyone of us “infidels” to perish. But I do recognize that there are a sizable number who do and are willing to engage in the most barbaric acts to carry out their beliefs.

That not all followers of Islam may believe in this approach should not give us solace. I’ve known a lot af Baptists who will have a nip of the grape and Roman Catholics who, judging from the size of their family, probably didn’t take their Church’s teachings on birth control all that seriously, either.

If, in the risk of offending someone, we are unable to characterize and identify our true enemy I am not sure how we can win the conflict that results from the conflict of ideology.

I’ve never quite understood the “War on Terror”. I’ve never seen “Terror” on any map and I don’t see any group, organized or not, running around with T Shirts saying “I am a terrorist”.

Once again PC will kill us speaking of which I will wish each and all a Merry Christmas Season.

If I were an immortal, instead of a tired old woman, I could take the long view that all these years since 732 A.D. we have been trying to push Islam back far enough, for long enough to give them time for self-analysis, to give them a period of contemplation to discover that a death-loving religion which requires them to kill all infidels is not a recipe for success, either personally or as a belief system.

It’s been a long sad trip. Each encounter has been blessed by the blood of brave warriors who resisted, and conquered, at a dreadful price. In each conflict we have prevailed. I hate to think we’re going to have to keep on doing this.

Let’s hope that our next administration will not undo, with their naivete and shortsightedness, the success we have within our grasp in the Middle East. And that Islam will finally mature enough to realize that you don’t, you can’t kill everyone who disagrees with you. Not and have a life worth living.

However, if, as Subsunk claimed, these wars have been about changing Islam, they have been dismal failures, and were doomed from the start because of our nation’s continuing ignorance and misunderstanding of the nature of Islam. It’s hard to reconcile Subsunk’s statement with the CINC’s repeated mantra that “Islam is a religion of peace.” ……….

No argument there from me. The Pres has said what he said, I believe, in order to obfuscate, obscure and obliterate uniting the Islamic world against us in religious warfare, and limiting the number of active enemy combatants we must face. Because Islam’s ascendancy is THE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL of every Middle Eastern elite alive today. They firmly, blindly, and (ha) religiously believe that Islam is the answer to everything and that Western concepts of peace and justice are wrong or even evil. Coexistence is not their goal. Worldwide domination of the Islamic religion, and its incipient political system of government is, in fact, their aim, even when the average Muslim does not recognize their support for that goal.

I won’t argue that W hasn’t identified the enemy clearly. He has been anything but clear about it. However, he is much clearer than the vast majority of Islamist apologists on the Left who actually cheerlead for Islam to defeat us, to the peril of their own lives and lifestyles.

However, “dismal failure?” Au contraire, dude. “The change, she is a coming”. It has just started. W is correct that it will be at least a generation before change is effected (tough to unbrainwash someone who has been indoctrinated since birth to kill Jews and Infidels with abandon and assumed religious justification), but it IS happening. And it will succeed when we have all but given up on ever effecting that change, as a mighty oaken door gives under sustained pressure and attack from the battering ram, seems to splinter all at once and the door opens and we are inside the bowels of Islam, planting the seeds of revision and reform like the Reformation of Christianity occurred after the Inquisition and the Holy Wars!
