In these heady days of “The Boss” singing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, isn’t that the truth!?

We have been waiting for the day… well said, Lex! So many people, afflicted with BDS and the lack of hope, are waking up to a time of hope. We’re happy to have them join us.

Happy to have them join us?

If events transpire so that in four years they’ll start hating America all over again, why then I’ll probably be happy.

I wonder if it works for some of these “new” theocratic -ugh ’scuse me – democratic eye-deers.
My mind has been hurtin since early Nov trying to figure out the subliminal messages in Springsteen’s music. Maybe it doesn’t work on a blogodite like moi.

  • It’s nice that the tantrum appears to be over and the hostage released, but is that the way we’re going to run things now? Eight years of pouting, ranting, squealing, crying, false accusations, constant derision, stomping of their little child-like feet (oh, soooooo cute), threatening to take their ball home, etc. until they finally get their way, and now every thing is just peachy keen again? Now the pendulum of the double-standard has swung completely the other way: what were war crimes are now pragmatic but tough decisions made by that heroic young man. What were horrible economic policies really were just suffering from being a few orders of magnitude too small. Hell, what was a wasteful, costly, and inappropriate $40 million inaugural was chicken feed to the what, $150 million we’re spending now, in the middle of a depression caused by the very folks ascending to near super majority status?

I’m not sure I like those rules.

I can’t disagree, daveg. The cliche gets tossed around farrrr too freely, but that is the kinda behavior that transformed Wiemar Germany into something, uh…..quite a bit different.

You could see it start within hours of the election, with that “52 loves 48″ crap…..if the majority had been on the other side, they wouldn’t have been feeling so magnanimous – and thier temper tantrums would have probably turned to outright violence. As it was, it was merely disgusting – the psychological “need” that represented, to somehow atone for their excesses of the last 8 years, and kiss and make up by making kindergartner sad faces and claiming affection…..like JeffG at ProteinWisdom said, it made me throw up in my mouth a little. Well….figuratively. Be prepared for at least a few years of the most hypocritical sanctimony imaginable. The best part will be watching the left scramble to explain how their Idol, in breaking all their hearts, is really not.

Sorry Lex, but “welcome” is not in my vocabulary for these situational patriots.

  • AW1 Tim

I have resolved to make it a singular effort in my town, to return with spades all of the cr@p I listened to the past 8 years.

    Gander, meet goose.

The leftists removed civility from discourse and politics, and I am of no mood to see it restored.

  • We need to rise above how the left conducted itself for the past 8 years.

But that doesn’t mean we give them a pass. Elevate the discourse and debate – and call them on every move they make that is counter-productive to the good of this country.

I know – that will be more than a full time job for a whole lotta people – but we need to do our best to keep it civil.

All we have to do is quote the facts as dispassionately as possible and that will likely do the job for us.

As I see it, it’s not a matter of what we do. I’m all for giving the guy a chance, but I hate, hate, hate the precedent that has been established by handing Obama a stack of get-out-of-jail-free cards for the duplicity and downright dishonesty of his campaign.

The scope of the double standard on display here is staggering, and I doubt that it will improve.

    More, if you’re so inclined:

    I’m with AW1 Tim.

The left behaves the way it does because it knows there are no negative consequences for its behavior.

Give it right back to them, but based on logic and facts, not emotion.

And absolutely NO giant paper mache heads!

Kris: I am glad to work for the good of my country and her people.

For the last eight years, the Left has loudly proclaimed their opposition not only to Bush, but to America herself. They were not the loyal opposition, but quite simply anti-American. They said they considered themselves “international”, not American. They had no respect for our country, our institutions, or the office of the President.

Well after those eight years, I’ve decided I agree with them.

They’re not my countrymen, and he’s not my president.

    No surrender!

  • I never said we should surrender or not talk about the issues or call the left into question.

    To the contrary.

I just think we can do it above the BDS method of derision – which produces no results.

Daveg: I agree, Obama was allowed to slide into the Oval Office without any grass stains for his effort (or complete lack thereof). But as things have shown us already, Obama’s minions are already turning on him because even he has come to the realization that it’s not all tea and crumpets in the White House. That it’s actual hard work. And that campaign promises are just that – words on the breeze of the time.

    Kris,

What is your gravatar? Each time it shows up in the corner of my eye, I think I’m seeing a Nike/Hercules missile on the rail but it isn’t.

  • Curtis: Not to hijack the thread (and begging Lex’s indulgence): At the ripe old age of 45, I have been diagnosed Congenital Hip Dysplasia that has progressed to the point where I need a hip replacement. What you see in my gravatar is the actual prosthetic hip I’ll be receiving when I have surgery on February 23, 2009. I know, probably TMI but it helps me accept what is happening to me…every little bit helps, ya know?! :-)

I am faithfully documenting my experience at My German Shepard Project.

OK, sorry about the digression. Back to the regularly scheduled programming here a Chez Lex.

    Kris,

In the event that I have not wished you best for your surgery results let me do so now. Will mark the calendar and ensure a prayers your way on that day. Having had 3 of those sessions albeit not as serious or complex in the past year I know it ain’t a fun thing to experience.
    best,
    geo6

  • Kris:

Here’s hoping as you get transformed into a bionic women you gain much, lose nothing but the pain, and don’t use your new found leg strength to kick any ass that doesn’t deserve it…

  • Curtis

    Thanks again Kris,

May you enjoy a fortune on Feb 23rd and 24th and beyond like the people of flight 1549. Let every single day beyond be one to enjoy and cherish.

    best wishes,
    Curtis

  • AW1 Tim

    Kris,

yeah, best wishes to you. Funny, but I had only glanced at your gravatar and thought it was a pen and ink well.. :)

I’ll swing over and follow all the sordid details…

  • You guys are awesome. Thank you so much – for the kind words and laughter.

I need much laughter these days…

  • geo6

Oh, so that’s what that is. I thought it was a face painting gone horribly wrong.

  • Heh. I’m still gonna be polite while I fight him tooth and nail on the issues that matter to me where I believe he’s wrong.

I can still slip a rhetorical shiv in between the ribs while being polite about it.

And I’ll welcome the spoiled brats back. Keeps my powder dry for when next they run away. Remember – the moral high ground is a great place to site your artillery.

  • Zane

But the point of your post is true enough–just mentioning the word “Obama” guarantees you great discounts and wonderful treatment. A friend of mine was at a bar with a Brit, and they found out he was American. The entire Italian family, Mama and all, came out with tears in their eyes to hug my friend. In part it’s a fascination with Obama, but it’s also a frustration (in Italy, at least) with their complete inability to get rid of the same old kleptocrats who’ve ruled their country for decades.
