Nanny Problems

When it comes to taxation on “the rich”, I get why Paul endorses the robbery of Peter. When it comes to limousine guilt, I guess I get why so many of the ultra-rich are prepared to raise their own taxes, so long as they can get some money from me too. If you’re living the life on a multi-million dollar trust fund, maybe you can get by on only a million or so per year for a while. Plus, the really rich can afford great tax lawyers to leverage loopholes in the tax law that their access to political power enables.

But can it really be true that a leading light of one of the country’s wealthiest families and liberal political dynasties ostensibly dedicated to redistribution of the wealth from the rich to the poor is forced to pass up another hand on the government reins because she didn’t pay her full tax burden and informally employed a member of the working class?

Sure seems that way.

So much for that whole “Holier-than-thou” thing…

But those laws are only ment for common people! Not for the elite! (Sarcasm)

  • I was wondering how long it would take you to pick up on that story. But you know, the rules are for the little people, those that need to be told what to do, by those who, you know, don’t actually have to do those things because, you know, they are special.

Since it seems that just about every appointee that comes along these days has tax problems you would think that at some time the light bulb might go off and the obvious conclusion would be reached that maybe there is something wrong with the tax code? You know as in too complicated that not even the people who can afford the experts to keep them from paying any and out of trouble at the same time can’t do both?

Flat Tax Baby – right up there with Stearman Ownership in S CAL as far as pipe dreams I fear…

I prefer the “fair tax” sales-tax-only proposal. Problem with ANY flat tax proposal is a) doesn’t do away with IRS and b) the offset will be the elimination of ALL deductions–then in a few years the inevitable proposal will be made to raise the tax rate for “extreme needs” while declining to re-instate deduction off-sets to higher rates as catering to “special interests” while the raise of rates across the board will be touted/sold as “fair.” Thus we will eventually end up with the worst of both worlds–high tax rates and no deduction off-sets–which is what partially happened under TEFRA of 86
and subsequent upping of rates w.o. re-instituting eliminated deductions (interest on credit cards, auto loans, etc.)

  • Actually all we need to do to get some serious income tax reform is to eliminate withholding. People pay more attention when they’re writing a check as opposed to letting the government take it directly.

  • If every person that received a paycheck got their gross pay and then had to write a check within three days to the IRS for the withholding amount you would see political reform occur almost overnight. The problem with health care started when employer paid health care started covering almost everything save a small co-pay. When you don’t “pay” for it you don’t manage the cost. But this is drifting dangerously off topic.

Vigil you are correct on the fair tax proposal. Never happen until we find a way to recapture our legislative process from the ethical cesspool it has become.

BTW, the Kennedy money was made in criminal activities during Prohibition. Joe was as crooked as they come and a big time rum runner IIRC.

  • AW1 Tim

AW1 Tim has a tax plan:

Everyone in your household gets a $10,000 deduction. You pay a tax of 10% on everything above that. No other deductions. Everything fits on a 6X8″ form.

    1.) Enter gross household income:_______

2.) How many in your household:_______

3.) Multiply the number on line 2 X 10,000 and enter here:_______

4.) Subtract the amount on line 4 from line 1 and enter here:_______

5.) Multiply the amount on line 5 by .10 and enter here:_______

6.) Send in the amount from line 6.

you’re done. No deductions, nor extra forms, no need for tax attorneys or much of an IRS. No withholding of taxes. People get props for big families, which helps recover the population to replace the boomers, etc.

    Anyway, that’s my 2-cent’s worth.

    respects,

Color me unsurprised. If that’s what it took to derail her, then ok. I’m just glad we don’t have to listen to her uh, uh, you know, uh. Course the opposite side of the spectrum is the professional bloviators who can barely remember to grab a breath.

That girl looks like she’s been rode hard and put up wet more’n once or twice. Kinda skanky now.

Is it illegal to hire household help as private contractors so that they are liable for all taxes?

Only if you’re going to face the Senate, apparently.

You know, on the topic of Caroline, I’ve been wondering what has happened to Mr. Schlossberg, the Princess’s consort of choice. He has been strangely absent in this current galere. Has he fallen by the wayside? Moved on to a new and younger trophy? Or is he imprisoned in Caroline’s attic, along with her schoolbooks and grammar texts, y’know?

Geesh, you’re nothing but a muckracker in the same vein as Upton Sinclair, dredging up all that dirt on the poor girl. Whaddishe doto you? I listened to a New Yawker lady lament the loss of all of Caroline’s “elected experience” and when the interviewer said Caroline had none the lady again lamented “I know, such a loss of experience”. Hell, not only do they vote but they REPRODUCE!!!

But, apparently a nomination from “The Messiah” makes it all OK a la Tim Geithner.

Quite frankly, I don’t understand what all the fuss is about. According to Iowahawk, a few days ago, Ms. Kennedy has her house keeper’s full support.

“Fair tax” or “Universal Sales Tax”? Here in Doity Joisey we refer that that idea as the Tony Soprano full employment tax.
The “flat Tax” ala Steve Forbes is the only one that could work.

Maybe we can get a Republican back in that seat :)

This Princess Caroline thing is getting nuttier all the time. Now it seems as though she’s been doing the nasty with “Pinch” Sulzberger , top dog at the New Yawk Times. Hubby’s seen to be “ex” pretty soon. ‘Fraid I’ve never been a Kennedy fan.
