Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Wow Lex, was just talking about Queensryche yesterday to one of my “younger” workers. As expected he hadn’t heard of them. Hope he gets to know them.
One of my favorites http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3QSkux3vcQ
Was a huge fan back in the day. The last time I saw them in concert was about two years ago in San Antonio. They were doing” Operation Mindcrime I &II” sort of a cross between a concert, an opera and performance art.
After a raving spittle flecked diatribe on the EEEVIIILLL McChimpy and the Iraq war at the intermission, I walked out , sadly disappointed to have wasted 50 clams on a show that I was enjoying up to that point
Thanks for plugging Brothers at War. Soldiers’ Angels has teamed up with them to spread the word and get viewers involved in active support of the troops. We’ll have reps at most screenings (all but one, at this point) across the country.
It’s reportedly a tremendous documentary–getting rave reviews from military personnel, families, veterans/retirees, etc.
/gratuitous plug
I was a big Mindcrime-era fan also, but was somewhat put off by the band’s politics. Here are the lyrics to “At 30,000 ft.” – what do you think. Lex?

Lex:
At my age I am definitely not an urban/hip hop kind of guy, with few exceptions. BUT some guys from Ft. Hood put together one of the most amazing and moving albums back about ’05 while on their tour of Iraq, or at least the first time. The result was “Live from Iraq” whose lyrics and musicianship will impress anyone. They’ve followed it up now with “Soldier Music.” Utterly amazing, VERY highly recommended: http://www.four25.com/
My wife and both my sons all have and play both albums frequently. Please check ‘em out. (and this is NOT a commercial, honest; they’re just that good)
best,
Comjam
Another reason to like Gary Sinise. The Tribune website is sad and painfully slow, but it’s worth the read.
Yeah, Gary Sinise is one of my new favorite actors, and not only b/c he plays a former Marine on CSI:NY. It’s a little known fact, but he’s made 10 trips to Iraq since 2003 for the sole purpose of meeting our troops and expressing his gratitude for their service. Check it out at:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,478044,00.html for the full story – there was also a documentary he did for Fox entitled “On the Road in Iraq With Our Troops and Gary Sinise” where his goal was (shaking) 5000 hands, 2000 miles in 7 days. I watched it when it aired and came away impressed. He’s truly someone who deserves our appreciation for all that he’s done on behalf of our troops.
It’s too bad that the MSM hasn’t picked up on this, but then I suppose that this is “business as usual” for them…
I saw Brothers at War last night. It is an amazing movie; well worth the five hour drive to see it.
