9MM?

The test is flawed.

Although the grip-mounted cocking lever is kind of cool.

Glock Model 22 in .40 caliber?

    And I hate Glocks.

    Must be karma.

  • I am … you! Apparently.
Which is kind of odd cuz I didn’t know I was a handgun at all. And for a lot of the questions, my answer would have been neither so I had to pick the least offensive alternative.

  • SJBill

9mm H & K here — twice. Even after changing answers on most of the questions.

  • Quartermaster

Glock Model 22 in 40. This is good as I am a strong proponent of the big hole theory. .45 acp would have been better, which is what I own.

  • Yep, it’s flawed. Glock 22 .40 cal. I’m with Yak – don’t much care for the square composites. And if you’re going for knockdown power nothing says “make my day” like the business end of a .45 barrel.

  • Snake Eater

A Glock Model .22 in 40 caliber…whatever the deuce that implies… although , truth be told, in a tight situation I still prefer a knife. Best

  • Marianne Matthews

Let me ask all you gun experts here. Wouldn’t that grip mounted cocking lever have a tendency to pinch the skin of your hand and maybe throw off your aim? My Taurus has double action and can be cocked with the trigger, which I can operate with the use of my two forefingers, one on top of the other. [I know, I know, guys, but my arthritic thumbs are too weak to activate the cocking lever before firing.]

Just curious, you know. I’m quite happy with the Taurus.

    Marianne

    • Hi Marianne,
I’ve shot the P7 and it doesn’t pinch the hand at all. I didn’t care for the feel of it in general and they were a little too pricey for my tastes, though. I’m happy with Mr. Browning designed pistols, myself.

  • Danger

H&K 9mm, no doubt. Don’t really care for the Glock. kinda wish my H&K was a .40, though. One of these days it will be.

  • Byron Audler

I got the Glock 22 as well. I’d rather the .45, as I am a firm believer in compensating lack of accuracy with big holes to bleed out of. That, and if they see the hole at the end of the barrel, I’m liable to save some cost on ammo when they keel over from cardiac arrest ;)

  • b2

Glock Model 22 in 40 cal, too. Concur-flawed. Who the hell wouldn’t want the “Playmate of the Year”?

I woulda thunk Colt Python or Desert Eagle in .357. … Wouldn’t own a Glock..I don’t like crap going off when I don’t want it to.

Seems like the site must be a Glock-HK dealer…

What kinda knife Snake? Just curious. A 12″ Bowie or a 6″ Gerber EZ out?

    b2

    • Snake Eater

B2, In truth re the knife…I should have modified my comment and added ” a way back in the day” …ahh…a mere 41 flippen years ago..
Back then I / most of us round eyes carried a Car -15 / a sh*t load of ammo, a 45 Cal 1911 pistol/shoulder holstered Tanker style and yes for me anyway a Gerber fighting knife strapped to my lower right leg… add to that a back pack with 4/6 qts. of water, food, poncho and on occasion… 2 to 3 M-60 Mortar rounds… and it all made for a fearsome sight indeed…the knife obviously was a last line of defense option intended for an Alamo like situation…which for me, thankfully, never occured. Best

PS, The 45 Cal 1911 is still my favorite.

  • George

I agree the test was flawed. Too many questions needed a “none of the above” option.

Live on an island with Paris Hilton or Martha Stewart?
    C- Suicide

    • hornetgunner

Well George, though I don’t think that I would pick C, I certainly would not desire A or B. So, I would have to pick D – Get out of jail free.

  • butch

9-mm is okay for women and Europeans.

    Just sayin’.

  • Yet another Glock model 22. Well, at least the caliber begins with a “4″.
And my preferred answer to many of the questions was “neither of those”, but that’s typical for this sort of test.
Funny how nobody seems to be coming up Woodsman, or Super Blackhawk, or Contender, or Harper’s Ferry.

  • Bruce Jones

And the trend continues: .40 Glock 22.

    George and Eric, concur.

  • I’m the Glock as well. My local gun store told me it’s the perfect 9mm for a woman – I wasn’t thrilled with that assessment.

I agree about the Martha Stewart/Paris Hilton question. Also the one about the President vs. the Playmate. I selected the President, consoling myself with the fact it didn’t specify current or former.

  • Nose

    You are a:
Glock Model 22 in 40 cal!

Looks like I’m in good company.

However, I, like Snake (EGADS!) like the edged weps.

Danger – I carry the HK .40 SW. USP LE model. A bit small, but very nice.

  • Yep, Lex has a lot of Glock 22’s (.40 caliber) as fans, doesn’t he? :)

Agreed, many of the questions were “neither” for me as well. The Prez vs. Playmate was especially silly. If they had said the (current) Prez vs. (say) Martina McBride, that would have been easy-peasy.

The local police force here, BTW, now uses a .40 caliber, but I forgot to ask the officer which model.

  • Mike M.

I own three P7s. Pinching is not a problem. Flawed test, though…seems that the high-end target pistols are not an option.

  • Humble1310

    I’m a 9mm HK, too.

Changed answers and was only able to toggle between the Glock and the HK.

    Hardcore flawed.

  • Josh

    I’m a Glock .40. Yeah!

  • yak

My experience with Glocks is limited to the ones we had at AFNORTH in Oslo back in the day. Trigger pull must have been about 150. Had to lean up against a vertical service, brace myself and pull back like I was drawing a bow…

Chose the Playmate, ’cause I figured they were talking about 44 and I figured the Yakette would have me on the couch if I chose 44.

  • Flatlander

Heckler and Koch, Model P7 in 9mm.

    Whatever that means.

  • AW1 Tim

Funny that. I, too, seem to be a Glock .40…….

    I’m detecting a bit of a trend here…..

  • Wilko

    Glock .40.
For some reason I’m one of the few that likes the the Glock. I also like Glenfiddich and not everyone likes that either.

  • virgil xenophon

    Yak/

Didn’t know you’d had any AFNORTH experience–ever make it up to Bodo? That’s where I ended up in my only AFNORTH exercise up there–we should have been so lucky to get to Oslo. :)

(although Bodo has a nice Jazz festival in the summer–unfortunately summer ain’t when I was there–a bartender in New Orleans I know has a Blues band that plays there every summer)

  • Frontsight Institute = tuppergun pimps. Not a wheelgun, 1911 or any manly caliber has showed up yet.

  • yak

    Virgil,

I was in the Maritime Operations Office at Kolsaas from 1989 – 1992. Planned a lot of exercises, serving as an umpire (can’t remember the actual term), during said exercises. As an aviator, my actual wartime assignment was to augment NON at Bodoe. Was the big polar bear in the lobby of the Bodoe airport when you were there? Sucker must have been 9 – 10 feet tall.

Ever try the seafood pizza at the SAS hotel? Herring, seaweed and squid, oh boy. I think they waved a tomato over it. Good thing we had lots of beer.

  • Combat Wombat

H&K P7. Flawed, but must confuse the quiz with the suavity and eruditeness of the poet combined with the ham/steak/eggs/barbecue take no prisoners attitude that is the (former) Navy O-6 club!

  • virgil xenophon

    Yak/

Norwegian pizza’s reputation had preceded it even in my day. Lots of pickled herring everything and those damned ever present Norwegian equivalent of pigs in a blanket–can’t remember what they called them–tasteless boiled damn hotdogs with mashed potatoes rolled up in some kind of bread, or with Norwegian-style mustard. But when you’re hungry….

Lots of Aquavit–mainly as shooters with the beer–couldn’t stand it any other way–unlike the natives who love to savor the stuff. Was there in 1970, don’t remember the Bear–either too drunk at the time or have alzheimers
    onset.

  • Ok. I think we’ve all recognized the fact that there’s only two choices of handguns here – neither of which make very much sense. My guess is the H&K is for those who chose some kinda “flashy” response, while the Glock was for those who are more “practical.” Sheesh.

I’m a big fan of Glocks – have been ever since I attended the USMC’s High Risk Personnel (HRP) course and noticed that all the instructors save one carried a Glock. No messing about with safeties, and the double-action trigger pull is quite manageable once you get the hang of it. I’ve had a 10mm & .40 cal. at different points, but have finally settled on the .45 – consistency, accuracy & stopping power; what’s not to like?

    • Humble1310

I’ve always felt Glocks were old tech. I once heard it said that Glock is the BetaMax of handguns: very cool, groundbreaking, but now, seriously out of date. For instance, the S&W M&P’s have the same features, but don’t look and feel like a brick.

  • SCOTTtheBADGER

#2 hand phaser here, how curious. The second time through, I was a GLOCK 22 in .40, and the third time through, I was a P7M8.

  • Bou

I got the same thing most everyone else got, Glock 22 .40. I had to read through the comments to see if it was a good thing or bad as the only thing it is good for, for me, is beating someone to death with it. I sure as hell couldn’t hit anyone. The big hole theory applies only if you actually HIT someone with it.

I figure we had to have something in common… like we like to eat at home? What does that have to do with guns? (… as if any of the other questions did…)

  • GEO6

XD45 Service. I made up my own test.

  • Brian

    Another Glock model 22…

  • I must have broken the mold…

    Colt model 1911 in 45ACP!

  • Stan/Tx

I am unable to take the test as the Company Nanny thinks weapons are a bad thing. However, my personal carry is a Glock 21 so I would be surprised if the test yielded a different reply.

  • lex

Actually, I’ve got my eye on one of those Sig 1911s. Nitron, with rails.

If it weren’t for the expense. And the fact, you know: They’re all impossibly on back order.

  • SCOTTtheBADGER

Lex, have you tried a HK USP45F? It is a very pleasant pistol to shoot, very accurate, and extremely reliable. They are also quite reasonable in price.

When they set out to make the USP, HK decided that they wanted to make the weapon that John Browning would have made, if he had had access to modern materials. It is very much a decendant of the 1911.

Try one out, I think you will like it. They are Badger Approved!

  • PeterGunn

Glock, Model 22, 40 cal. … “so the survey says”.

Sig Sauer would be my personal choice, barring any complicating factors.

  • jpr

Glock Model 22 in 40 cal! (exclamation point in original)

  • RPL

    I’m a Glock model 22 in 40 caliber.

  • Quartermaster

I’d take a HK USP in .45 in a heartbeat. I seem to remember the SEALs adopted them. I liked ‘em before I heard that. The Glocks don’t fit my hand well, although the 1911 does quite well. I’ve got one, just make sure you get first rate mags because they are sensitive to the quality of the magazine.

  • SCOTTtheBADGER

I agree about the magazines, I use only original HK , and Ram Line mags. It does not pay to buy cheap stuff, you are right. I am a rightie, but I am told that for left handers, the ejected rounds tend to land on the top of your head.
