The editorial board at the New York Times spiked a story linking President Obama’s campaign to the controversial ACORN political organization, according to this report from a Philadelphia newspaper.

All the news that fits the narrative.

“All the news that’s fit to print…”

    Well, not so much…

I have been given to believe, from a cursory perusal of the contents of said fishwrap, that their motto was “All the news that fits, we print!”.

I will not shed a tear at their demise.

In other news today, Congress is introducing a bill into the house to mandate wage controls on ANYONE receiving federal bailout money.

In addition, the bill gives Geithner the authority to decide what pay is “unreasonable” or “excessive.” And it directs the Treasury Department to come up with a method to evaluate “the performance of the individual executive or employee to whom the payment relates.”

I guess only politicians are allowed to get rich off of public funds….. sigh.

Gee, I am so surprised about ACORN…

Yeah, can you imagine that? Not in a million years would have I…..have……suspected…..

(on a more serious note, I got a REAL GOOD look at their act post-KATRINA in New Orleans–they were EVERYWHERE–a second flood.)

        Virgil,

Really? I spent part of the weekend in Fargo and didn’t see a one. At least, not in the lines filling and placing sandbags. I didn’t get a chance to check out the line for looting beer from supermarkets.

Not too many of their “brothers” and “sistah’s” to comiserate with in Fargo, doncha know….Got any Wal-Marts in Fargo? Might be some circling round in a holding pattern over there…

I should hasten to add I met a lot of well-meaning ACORN types too–more on the order of “they know not what they do” sort of earnest gullibility.

(Quick funny, funny story. One of the more educated erudite house-painter, floor finisher guys I know
who drinks at a neighbor-hood bar I frequent got stuck in town(don’t ask) and ended up at the Convention Center by the river with all the brothers. Remember that Wal-Mart they showed on TV where the female cops were looting also? Well, it’s just down from the Convention Center along Tchoupitoulas St.on the other side. Bunch of the brothers went “prospecting” and returned with all sorts of newly found gold. Just so happens my friend was griping in idle conversation that it was a helluva way to spend his birthday–which it was–when one guy pipes up and says: “Man, it’s yo’ birthday? Here, have a present.” Proceeds to take off one of about nineteen watches on his arm and gives it to Pat for his birthday! How considerate
of one of the brothers! The milk of human kindness personified! LOL!!! (ya gotta admit though, it WAS a considerate touch)

Gee, so now the “fourth estate” is making the news. Things are getting a little too “Winston Smith working at the Ministry of Truth”, and we’re the Proles.

I’ve got some ex-Navy SEALS looking for meaningful employment; very good at “behavior modification therapy”; completely non-prejudicial with regards to targets – people, places, institutions.

How about an anchor pool on when the NY Slimes goes under?

They will not be missed. At least by those seeking truth.

    • raz

No way congress will let that happen. There will be bailout money to keep them going. I put my money on that bet.

      • OldT6Pilot

Oh some Congressman proposed they be allowed to operate as non-profits. Based on the chart above I suspect they already are (but not the way he meant).

  • Ok, I seem to be a little dense this afternoon – can someone explain the chart to me? I assume the top portion is a declining number of subscriptions, but what’s the “Volume” box at the bottom?

  • unkawill

Maj Harvey, I belive the top chart is stock price over time and the bottom chart is the volume of shares traded.

  • “D’oh!”
    (thanks, unkawill…)

  • “I guess only politicians are allowed to get rich off of public funds….. sigh”…nope…lawyers and lobbyists will get very rich as a result of all this. Every business is getting the message loud & clear..if you don’t have a strong & effective lobbying presence and effective political connections, you will be crippled or destroyed.

    • MaxDamage

David, makes you wonder why Mexico has an ambassador to the US to lobby Congress, but New Mexico does not. Since Senators are no longer appointed by the States but popularly elected, they no longer need represent the State but only need to get re-elected at 6-year terms vs. 2-year term the Reps do.

The cooling saucer it may still be, but only to better get re-elected.

I’d contend the passage of the 17th Amendment spelled the start of the decline of our Republic, for of what use is a Senator popularly elected and not beholden to the State other than a three-term Representative? There is no use for the upper house other than as a job-security program for folks who should be reparesentatives.
