“Just Give Us the Money”

Seems like the pirates of the Gulf of Aden don’t have a lock on extortion:

Pakistan warned visiting Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) Monday that Washington should not to attach conditions to the $7.5 billion in aid proposed by President Obama as part of his comprehensive Afghanistan strategy…

“The U.S. should not attach conditionalities to the assistance package being presented to the U.S. Congress, as aid with strings attached would fail to generate the desired goodwill and results in Pakistan,” Gilani, adding there was a “trust deficit” between the U.S. and Paksitan, was quoted in a statement issued by his office.

“The prime minister also pointed out that the negative messaging emanating from the U.S. and the West was generating ill will,” the statement added.

Pakistan’s tolerance for radicals moving back and forth across the Hindu Kush to murder coalition soldiers, human rights activists and lovelorn couples is generating a little bit of ill will over here, too.

Pakistan controls the land bridge supporting coalition resupply to Afghanistan. Like the Somali “coast guard” that seeks to tax commerce moving through the waterways off their coast, the Pakistanis seem to believe that gives them the right to play both ends of the fiddle.

The difference, I suppose, is that Pakistan is our “ally” in the Global War on Terror Overseas Contingency Operations Against Man-caused Disasters.

  • “Man-caused disasters”?
Please tell me they’re not serious; that’s beyond pathetic. It must be on a need to know basis, I suppose. I had no idea Canadian soldiers were dying in a overseas contingency operation. Because that sounds rather unimportant in the grand scheme of things, like something that we might just consider opting out of…

We’ll have to see if the Obamanation knuckles under, or if even the idiots of the left (redundant, I know) realize there’s no future in that.

  • …trust deficit…

    …aid with strings attached…

This really galls me. We are expected to provide aid to an “ally” that won’t do anything to control it’s outlaw frontiers. But we can’t say how we’d prefer to see our money spent.

That’s like giving a newly minted teen driver $50,000 and telling them you’d like them to get a Prius.

They won’t and the results will be catastrophic.

Ah for the days of Reagan, when the response would have been, “Bite Me”.

And John Kerry did what? Bow?

I say we hire the Paki’s to negotiate for our State against the Feds…..my guess is that they’re going to get the money anyway. And a stern lecture from The One, no doubt, about their obligations. His talk, our money. Bad trade.

Bomb the nukes and walk away. Pakistan is and has been for decades a failed state.

  • Are we sure our Pakistani friend wasn’t simply mimicking some of our Banking CEO’s?
