Not only are you, gentle readers, likely “right wing extremists” because you concern yourself with the extension of the federal government into increasingly invasive elements of your private lives, you are also – according to LA Times op-ed writer Marc Cooper – insane:

I can recall only a few outbreaks of such collective insanity as these tea parties in recent years. There was that time in the mid-1990s when a $19.95 video proving Bill Clinton was some sort of serial killer went viral. And then, a few years back, there was that chilling, televised midnight seance from the floor of the U.S. Congress aimed at reviving the long-brain-dead Terri Schiavo.

And now this. Whip out your Lipton and don your tinfoil hat and join the protest against … against … against what exactly?

Because newspaper folks can’t be expected to keep abreast of current events, the issue is not a 3% raise on the marginal income tax rates of “millionaires” (defined by our government as anyone earning more than $250k per year), nor is it the necessity to untangle the mess the financial system finds itself in.

The issue is adding a trillion dollars to the national deficit on wooly-headed social schemes that will do very little to stimulate the economy but will require our children to slave away like automatons for their entire lives.

The president and his party have won an important election. They have not finally and irrevocably won the argument over the size and scope of federal power.

They would be wise to remember that the wheel never stops turning.

Update: If it’s insane you’re looking for, look no further.

Update 2: Be patriotic.

If the reporter doesn’t know, it’s because he doesn’t want to know. Anyone see the Governor of Texas in the news conference yesterday? That says something about who is wearing the tinfoil hat and how far things have gone.

I am protesting the ever encroaching federal government. The one that has thrown over the Constitution, and pays no mind to the rights of the States or the citizens. The one that watches, and makes the laws that make felons of us all.

I am protesting a government that is running in a different direction and ceased to listen to it’s citizens in any meaningful way. That sees the effort to be heard as “right-wing extremism” and sees it’s own veterans as a threat.

I am proposing a return to a Constitutional Republic. Proposing the elimination of the welfare state and the effort to make all of us into subjects. Proposing term limits for Senators and Congressmen. Proposing that taxation only fund the activities mandated in the Constitution, and nothing else. Proposing that any federal legislation that does not include funding be declared void. Proposing the federal government adopt a balanced budget. Proposing we move enough of our industry back onshore that we can balance our foreign trade. Proposing we drill where the oil and natural gas are, and use our resources, instead of continuing to depend on the Saudis. Proposing we close the southern border, and control our immigration….and so on.

If I was somehow unclear, I am sure that the government can provide Mr. Cooper with my phone number and I will be more precise in the interview.

I hope that Mr. Perry is sincere and he, and Texas, follows-up with his theme.

Having become pretty skeptical, if not downright cynical about our entire political class, I have to note that he is facing Ms. Kay Bailey H. next year. Positioning and all that.

Here in NC, ex-Senator Dole started changing her tune a year or so ahead of the election last year, though it did not do her any good. It hurt to vote for a Far-Left Democrat, but the only concerns most politicans have is staying in office.

Well, off the the Raleigh Tax Day Protest down at the Capital. Looking forward to it. Do not know if it will do any good, but I know for darn sure that doing nothing is the wrong choice if you care about this country remaining the United States of America. As opposed to Amerika.

I’ve always been insane, according to the left. I’ve never seen that as a problem however. To a maniac, the sane are always insane.
