Here’s a rather harsh attack reflecting on the president’s overseas performance in the LA Times entitled “Squanderer in Chief“:

Obama’s fecklessness emboldens our adversaries and discourages advocates of liberty around the world. The consequences will be felt in damage to American prestige. As much as liberals like to claim that Bush “squandered” America’s reputation, Obama is doubling that offense by setting up his country — rhetorically and materially — to be overtaken by other powers on the international stage. He is paving the way for America’s decline.

Perhaps more surprising than the article’s tenor is its provenance: James Kirchik is the assistant editor of The New Republic newsmag.

Although it is fair to say that Kirchik is a bit of a moving target, politically speaking, TNR – when not publishing anti-military fantasies - retains a left/liberal worldview, and can be considered the polar ideological opposite to The National Review. Who also disapproved of the president’s overseas performances.

So it’s true after all: The president really is a uniter!

You really made me laugh out loud. Thanks.

So, even the left is getting it good and hard. Absolutely no sympathy from me. Condign punishment, methinks.

  • If the results weren’t so tragic it would indeed be funny. Kirchik now gets to feel the rath from those who are so free to lecture on tolerance while failing to practice it.

    Cap’n,

I served during the abysmal Carter years and, while Jimmy kept to the Rose Garden during the last two years of his reign, he still ensured the Navy couldn’t get underway.

Obama’s policies are going to be worse the Jimmy’s and I wouldn’t be too surprised if some sort of ‘Political Officer’ will be in place soon. We’ll be at war with some country in the near future and won’t have a pot to piddle in.

Look on the bright side, SeniorD. With the carbon tax coming, there will be no need for an excess expense of a political officer as the Navy will merely be forbidden to light off the boilers in the name of CO2 reduction.

So, you’ve got that going for you.

      Which is nice.

Death by a thousand cuts, I believe it was called by the Chinese…

      – Max
