The 10th is also anathema to them. So 8 is about as high as they get.

They've never changed since their founding. They are one of the most dangerous overt organizations on the left. Combine with the fascists they get on the benches of our country, and you have pseudo-legal death. Pseudo because rule of law is their least concern.

I think that -for once- fliterman is halfway right about this.

That is to say, I think that most members or supporters of the ACLU (the latter would include the Instapundit) believe the organization is genuinely dedicated to supporting civil rights in this country.

The problem arises, rather, from the fact that a very specific form of hyper-civilized (i.e. someone in a very protected world) liberal has come to dominate the organization. To this sort of person, owning or (worse yet) using a gun is the act of a violent person. In a very narrow sense, they are correct, since a gun has only one function: to put holes into people and other things. The fact that this might be occasionally necessary is just outside their world view.

This, I think, explains why the ACLU can only count to nine...

Yep, he missed the point. Not surprising for the Fliterman, however.

Just because they said they kicked the commies ouit, however, doesn't mean the original intent isn't operative. Unfortunately, it is.

Ask them about their support of the 2nd amendment. To say they hate it would be a bit weak.

The ACLU, etc., have no interest in things like your link reveals because they know they can exert no influence over such people. Only societies with a social conscious and a proper sense of shame can be affected by hectoring from the likes of the ACLU, Amnesty Int., etc. These organizations in their present form are all about easily attacked tgts of opportunity rather than opposing true evil.

As far as do one dying over it, I wouldn't be too sure. Read the link--I know the guy who wrote it and he knows what he's talking about, unfortunately.

At the conference I recently attended, BG Oates (currently in Iraq) said that in Iraq they were concerned but not alarmed about the release; they believed that over the years they've shown the Iraqis that people like the idiots at Abu Ghraib were not representative of the American soldier, and so they didn't expect a significant violent reaction to the pictures.

At this point, all we can do is hope he's right. And he may be, in regards to Iraq. But I have a very bad feeling that doesn't hold true for the rest of the fertile ground for terrorist recruitment.

Thought I'd add a link to photographic evidence of real torture, which you'll likely never see on US headline news and groups like the ACLU have no interest in:
