I know this shouldn’t amuse me so much:
An expedition team which set sail from Plymouth on a 5,000-mile carbon emission-free trip to Greenland have been rescued by an oil tanker.
But it does.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

ROTFLMAO!
(cruel smile)
It seems that off shore oil is good for some.
Oh, the irony. LOL!!
I’d loved to seen them rammed by a Greenpeace thugboat. You can’t make this stuff up!
Commitment only goes so far.
Having watched massive group-4′s taking black water OVER their bows, I have no sympathy for these idiot dirt-worshipers.
The fast that the voyage was being monitored by dozens of schools makes this a wonderful “teaching moment” in my view
Downs and I are both giggling about this. That nasty black stuff which floats our entire economy and makes the greenies so mad is good for even those who hate it.
Reminds me of last year, when a bunch of earnest environmentalists, believing that everything in the frozen North was melting, set off to the Arctic and had to give up and call for help. Because it was waay too cold up there, and they were frozen to the ice. “The Lord moves in His mysterious ways, etc. etc.” And He’s infinitely kind, even to the least of us.

Yes MM, He is infinitly kind, I believe He is trying to get the HighPriests attention. Like Al his followers seem a bit unteachable don’t they? Lex, I to find it amusing. Regards
Too bad they didn’t really go carbon free and hold their breath the whole way.
Will,
Yes. The ultimate cure for smugness and idiocy.
Irony – it’s what’s for breakfast. Delicious.
Rescued by an oil tanker? Dude, that’s got to seriously expand your carbon footprint. I wonder if it’s to late to purchase carbon credits so that the trip is still a success?
Again, Lex, you have forced me to snarch coffee on the keyboard. WAY TOO FUNNY!
Being a Sailor, I don’t have any schadenfreude here, although I don’t feel sorry for them either. It was the wrong time of year for what they were trying to do. I would not want to be caught in a spring gale in the north Atlantic, and turning turtle is terrifying, to say the least.
The irony of being rescued by an oil tanker, however, is precious.
