Cool video of Gettysburg‘s Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment coming up on a pirate mothership off Somalia.
Hard to make run for it when an armed helo is off your beam.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

*Now, that’s the way to do it.* The US Navy and The USCG offering assistance to the pirates. For all we know, they could be “assisting” them to the nearest land, the bottom. Note, I never used the phrase, “dry land”, just land.
As always,
Grumpy
To bad if any of the flexicuffed pirates jumped overboard trying to escape. We should do nothing to tray to apprehend them again if they do so.
We should also be sure to take gifts when meeting these foreigners. A nice GPS tracking device attached to the hull, for instance. Or a limpet mine quietly attached to give them a wake up call a few hours later.
Of course, my preferred solution is to run each up the nearest halyard. No quarter for pirates encountered in the act on the high seas. Let the lawyers have at them if found ashore, but not if they are underway and outside national waters.
I know I’m the silly one around here, but I saw a bunch of folks with ballistic vests on and arms, legs, and faces exposed.
Which, granted if you’re shot in the arm that’s a long way from your heart and you’ll likely survive.
But why not protect in the first place?
I’m just asking..

Darn. I had the sound turned down and everything waiting for the “ready, aim, fire” part . . . and all we got was 17 more mouths to feed and house instead of a good lesson for the pirate wannabees of the world.
What a waste of time. I’m pretty sure the 5 inch guns on Gettysburg can deliver all the peace, love and understanding those pirates deserve.
Say no to unnecessary zodiac rides, save the planet, don’t waste fuel when lead can do the job.
(also feed the fish in the process)
5″ guns? Concur. Something historically apropos about that choice. Though I reckon an old Bug driver like Lex might opt for a Rockeye so there’d be a few pieces left to watch burn.
Rockeyes don’t jam.
2.75′s w/flechettes do not jam either. Rather effective weapon, though not sure they are still used.
