Maybe seven. That’s how long Norman Polmar figures it will be until the first Chinese carrier can be ready for operations at sea.
Of course, by that time, they probably won’t need one.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

What throws me for a loop is how the President can go to these Town Hall PR thingys and say with a straight face we can’t sustain these record deficits while at the same time proposing massive spending increases that are part and parcel to the problem in the first place.
And no one in the media, or anywhere else for that matter, points out the obvious contradiction.
He states Health Care costs (presumably of the Government) are a big part of the problem and then proposes to spend billions more on government funded health care programs to fix it.
I just don’t get it. It is a performance worthy of an Oscar and makes the Speaker’s recent verbal wanderings seem positively clear by comparison.
While I wish it wasn’t truly possible, the President has managed to take all of the “opposition’s” positions and made them his own. The worst part of it all is that by week’s end his loyal disciples will all sing his praises for his unique perspectives, and convince the masses that we MUST raise taxes across the board to prevent further travesty.
Is Texas ready to exercise its State Constitution yet?
By that time, we’ll be transferring our carriers to them to relieve some of our trade debts.
ASM286 beat me to it!
Obama obviously needs “gun control” for himself… he just shot himself in the foot!
But we desperately need nationalized healthcare, on the taxpayer’s dime, along with additional planned deficit spending for the next several years. Add to that a national debt that is already 46%+ of GDP, and I’d say we’ve got nothing to worry about…or would that be a wrong assumption?
If the Federal government were a prospective homebuyer looking for a mortgage, the bank would turn them down because of the income/debt ratio. I’m so sick and tired of the government’s fiscal irresponsibility that I can’t even get angry about it anymore. It wears me out just thinking about what they’re doing to us.
They won’t need an actual CV in 2015.
With the Obama administration in power, they’ll have an unsinkable WESTPAC carrier in-place by 2012 — the FORMOSA.
