I also planned on sticking next to Lex too because he used to be a fighter pilot himself but admitted to him that my hopes were really pinned on Not-Clint-Eastwood because Lex just looked too nice to survive if we were attacked by Russians but I assured him that in my head he’d die heroically trying to save me and I could tell that he was cool with that or that he’d just stopped listening.
I would have been cool with that, I think.
Happily, No Actual Russians were harmed in the blogging of this embark, and my commitment to Jenny’s survival remains – for now – untested.

JTB sounds like an, umm, interesting person.
Loved her comment about you being “too nice to survive”. Rather think it would have been the Russians that would have had to worry about surviving (back in the day when they were the enemy of course).
The poor child doesn’t realize that one doesn’t have to be ugly to be lethal — really lethal. Imagine that sweet, killer smile of Lex’s being the last thing you ever see on this earth. And your last thought would be “Oh sh#t — I really screwed up!”

Lex, you need to hook her up with Uncle Jimbo of Blackfive. Put them in the same room for a couple of hours and see what happens.
Russ … I can see the attraction of hooking up Uncle Jimbo and Lex. But I think their styles of debate are different. Jimbo, being a former Special Forces loadmaster, is still influenced by the mantra of the SEALs, that there is almost no problem that can’t be solved by the proper application of a well-applied shaped explosive charge, while Lex, being a former All-American saber champion, is more of the perfectly targeted slice-and-dice category.
But I think they’d both respect each other. And that’s always the beginning of a fruitful discourse.
