Blackout?

Jim Kouri, vice-president of the National Association of Chiefs of Police, writes that murder of Army Private William Long by an unrepentant terrorist failed to attract significant media attention:

There were many in attendance from the US military and the law enforcement community to pay their final respects to a fallen soldier — the first killed on American soil by a terrorist since September 11, 2001.

Unfortunately, except for a few news stories filed by Associated Press and local newspapers, the majority of the major news outlets ignored the service. Even the story carried in the Little Rock news media failed to mention how the soldier was murdered and by whom.

Perhaps if they’d flown him into Dover.

    Birds chirping.

  • Hell it took the President of this country 3 days to comment on it publicly. Since the media are in lockstep with P.BO this is not shocking.

    Disgusting, but not shocking.

The survivor and his mother were on CNN/MSNBC today, so it’s finally getting traction. It helps, of course, that he’s black, else who knows if he would have been interviewed? And they are getting around–finally–to the Muslim connection. But VERY kid-gloves gingerly. Still and all, a minimalist response at best–but better than nothing, I suppose. Perhaps other stories will springboard off of these. I also saw a pretty decent post at”Politico” today which covered the coverage controversy pretty accurately and fairly-t’was a surprise.

I finally found a good story about the funeral that included significant details: http://www.nwanews.com/adg/News/261580/

    Local outlet, of course…

What really struck me about reading two different accounts of the story was this:

    From the AP:

During the service, Daris Long read a letter he’d planned to give his son before his deployment to South Korea, which was scheduled on the day that turned out to be his funeral.

Choking up at times, the elder Long told his son to learn his skills quickly, as the chance remained that North Korea could invade South Korea.

“Your day only ends when you’ve done your duty,” the father said, tears in his eyes. He then placed the letter in the casket.

In the link I gave in the comment above:

“You and your brother … are both heroes for having the moral courage to stand up when your country needs you most,” Daris Long read. “You are in my hopes and my thoughts and my prayers. You are my son, you are my hero. I love you. Semper fidelis.”

I discovered the AP version first, and found quote from the letter there oddly awkward as a point of focus. Much later today I read the second report and the words leaped out at me. Why in the world did the AP reporter think the discussion of his Korean deployment more relevant than those kind of heartfelt words from a dad and fellow serviceman? (And that wasn’t the only thing AP left out that both ennobled and humanized PVT Long and his family).

Today, the killer affirmed his defense of murdering Pvt Long as a legitimate act against US Military personnel because they have been killing Muslims.

It is astounding that our enemies are waging a religious war of extermination against us, and our own leadership is dealing with this as if it were a police matter.

To show how deeply into Orwell’s world, and Bizzaro world we have descended, a late-term abortion provider, a friend of Dr. Tiller, has been on television today comparing the murder of Tiller to the assassination of Dr King.

    I. Sh!t. You. Not.

Kings family has vehemently denounced the comparison, but it shows the depths to which a portion of our citizenry has sunk.

    respects,

    • The WON was outraged at Dr Tiller’s death, yet…has not commented on a soldier gunned down in the streets.

The C-in-C seems to have no concern for those who are under his command.

OT sort of, but somewhat good news reported on Don Surber’s blog. We are now 10% of the way through the Won’s Presidency! Woo Hoo!

“Israel’s Channel One TV reported that Netanyahu was told Tuesday by an ‘American official’ in Jerusalem that, “We are going to change the world. Please, don’t interfere.” The report said Netanyahu’s aides interpreted this as a ‘threat’.”

The messianism surrounding Obama is real and VERY dangerous. It is not grounded in reality or principle, but in ideology. And THEY accused Bush of arrogance. This mess is just beginning.

  • I don’t self modulate that well. We are at war. This soldier is a casualty. He should have at least received a Purple Heart. The shooter should be held as a POW. As should all the rest of the prisoners. They are POWs. They should be treated accordingly. Then we should turn to the fight, while victory can still be attained.

The lack of media (AKA Obama Propoganda machine) attention to this killing of an American soldier by a terrorist on US soil comes as no surprise.

what can one expect freom those who consider Obama to be God.

Yup, at least one has come out and actually claimed that Obama IS god. Evan Thomas, Editor of NEWSWEEK MAGAZINE

“In a way, Obama is standing above the country. Above … above the world … He’s sort of God.”

Well – we all knew Obongo despised the military even more than the Clintonistas did, so we cannot be surprised that he wanted Federal Marshals guarding every abortionist but could not care less about his muslim brethren gunning down soldiers who are not even combatants…no guards have been stationed at recruiting offices… but it IS at least an affirmation, of sorts, to see that the media follows its head-bobbing kneepad approach to mindlessly following the Obongo agenda.
