The WaPo has fired it’s “White House Watch” columnist Dan Froomkin, saying that his work at the paper was done:
POLITICO learned today that the Washington Post has terminated its relationship with liberal columnist/blogger Dan Froomkin. Froomkin authored the “White House Watch” blog and was told today that the blog had essentially run its course.
Washington Post Media Communications Director Kris Coratti tells POLITICO that “our editors and research teams are constantly reviewing our columns, blogs and other content to make sure we’re giving readers the most value when they are on our site while balancing the need to make the most of our resources. Unfortunately, this means that sometimes features must be eliminated, and this time it was the blog that Dan Froomkin freelanced for washingtonpost.com.”
No, there is no longer a requirement to sponsor a columnist to examine the policies of the White House occupant. Everything is fine now. Nothing to see. Move along.
Mission accomplished!

So the Washington Post fires their White House blogger/columnist Dan Froomkin and Obama fires his third Inspector General which, according to the rules, he’s not supposed to do without informing and getting permission from Congress. He fired the first Inspector General because, he claimed, he had “lost confidence” in him, feeding the rumor mill the false information that the IG was confused and getting senile. If we were playing a game, this would be called “dirty pool,” since the IG, who is in his 70s, seems to be in better possession of his faculties than Mr. O is. At least, the IG demonstrated in a television interview that HE doesn’t need a teleprompter to convey his thoughts clearly.
Something hinky about this story. Wonder what it is.

Now give the WaCompost a break. They had a liberal blogger during the Bush years. Of course, they are searching high and low for a conservative blogger to hire for this position now that O is in the White House. They have, after all, a reputation they must protect for investigative journalism. I await with bated breath for the selection of the obvious choice, Michelle Malkin.
But I am beginning to get a little blue in the face—hurry up WaCompost.
Dissent or criticism of The One will not be tolerated. Obviously the Wash Post management was made an offer they could not refuse.
It’s the Chicago way.
Firing IG’s… Think we’ll see an investigation? Hearings on the Hill? Think AG Alberto Gonzalez would get it so easy?
“D” controlled House. The fox is guarding the henhouse.
All of this just … scares me. It’s beyond sycophantic worship. It’s something far more blind – and far more dangerous.
You know, this post may factor into this. Consider how the “watchful eyes” are being closed (the polite statement) or gouged out (the in your face assessment).
Nothing like shooting out the lamps to help to conceal your movements/operations.
Time for the equivalent of NVGs for political oversight, eh?
