Continuing to learn forces the brain to keep building...and that staves off those bad effects...so don't just do more crossword puzzles, find other things to learn...paly and instrument, take up a new hobby, learn a language. Keep switching it up...constantly.

Who are you kidding, no ill effects? Geez...just look at the crowd around here that used to wear the uniform? :) Then again, maybe it was from drinking the sludge at 0230 on the mid that had been sitting in the pot all day on a hot burner.

Actually, they were smart....the body's core temp is measured to determine when to turn the radiators on, or cut them off. On a hot day, a little warming internally made you sweat a little more, and then the evaporative effect cools you. In the cold, a cold drink tells your body to cut off the blood vessels near the surface, so as to retain heat in the core.

If you're doing something smart and you don't know it's smart, does that make you smart?

Don't believe the hype, folks. There are new "studies" coming out every day that suggest this, that and everything else will prevent Alzheimer's Disease. Didn't you hear, marijuana helps, too:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4286435.stm

Here is what I think ACTUALLY helps: years of healthy eating, exercise and good genes. That's about it. Oh, and crosswords won't help either:

Too bad us here in California cannot enter to win in the Guinness Contest. But I will continue to benefit from my regular caffiene IV.
