  • Lex,

    Was there a link?

    There was. And is!

@ASM826 and @Lex, As of this comment, there was a functioning link.

@Lex, there’s an unacceptable or unprintable term, but accurate, for people like this pilot.

  • Sadly in two separate incidents of accidents happening while practicing for upcoming airshows two pilots were killed this past weekend. From the sounds of the news accounts both pilots spun in. In one case the pilot was flying an AT-6/SNJ and I know from personal experience that spinning below about 5000′ AGL is not going to end in a good day if you get one fully developed. Get cross controlled and pull too hard on the top of a loop and the world wants to start going round and round.

I lost a close friend a few years back in a similar incident. He was a damn fine stick so even the best get bit when pushing the envelope close to the ground.

I thought that the next article on the site was interesting too. Chef blows off both hands while trying to create new dish. Only in Germany would chefs work along scientific methods to create food…..

OK, I’m splitting hairs with an electron microscope here, but did he really TIE the record if he hit a car? I’d say he was about 3′ AGL when controlled flight ended.

Agree. Looks like a really low midair with a POV.

I’m with you BeachBum. Seems to me in this day of nanotechnology, 3′ AGL is like a MILE away from tying the record.
Besides, if one ploughs a little divot, how can we really call it a tie? We ought to start measuring BGL for the truly macho ;)

So, the bicyclist, who *witnessed* the accident, was treated for shock?! Was he French? Sheesh…
