In Hanford, California with Cardinal 217AF.

It’s freakishly hot.

Just watch that density altitude. Come home safe!

Well… I was gonna ask an old sailor out to lunch since I was gonna be down your direction tomorrow. So much for that… :P

What’s that over the cockpit? The aviation equivalent of an auto sunshade?

My last trip in we stayed 10m SW of Hanford Muni at the Tachi Palace. I’m not big on casino action but it was a nice, new, clean, within-per-diem room with one of the best value breakfast/dinner deals I can remember. Hope your next trip is safe and fun. Hanford. How not to sell homeporting, close-loop detailing.

    So Cap’n,

Are you referring to the local temps or the Cardinal?

Now that’s an uglee plane. :)

Aw, it’s just July in the Central Valley. When I was an Argonaut at Lemoore, we didn’t have those neat flight line shelters to keep the sun off.
So was lunch at Chinese Alley?

  • Can you smell the Harris Ranch when you are flying? I know the stench is overpowering near Coaling Station “A”, on I-5.

Have fun while you are here. It is RIDICULOUSLY hot right now.

    Well….. I hear it’s a ‘dry’ heat out ya’ll’s way.
Come visit here and enjoy the balmy 98 degree, 70% humidity clime and discover the finer attributes of air conditioning and sweet ice tea.

    Lex,
If’n you’d ever pulled the floor in that thing and looked at the mechanism that swings the gear, you would be afraid. Tiny reed switches and magnets (Proximity switches, Cessna calls them), really crap gears, and HOPE! Having repaired them and flown them, I’ll never retract that gear again. There’s no telling when they might be “Down and Locked” the next time.
The cardinal could use some more power, and better gear, but they are a fun airplane.
Too many failure points for the main-gear.

    Good luck to you, sir!
May all your landings be happy ones.

    ChrisP
