No Time for Love, Dr. Jones

Busy day today after a rather alarming morning. Here are a couple of random links to keep you entertained while your host earns his pay, like.

From Grim, an extended discussion that touches on Ezra Klein’s “trust in government post”, courtesy of occasional reader FbL.

From Jules, a reason for veterans to wonder whether (local) government ought really be trusted.

From the LA Times: Paid volunteers.

And! I have just received an email notifying me of my forthcoming “last chance for complimentary bacon”.

It is to weep.

That blonde “volunteer” is some kind of scary. Last time I saw a mouth on something like that, it was attached to 15 feet of scaly body and tail, and was trying it’s damndest to get to my dog…

It’s all part of the stimulus package. What? You didn’t see the “Shills for Bills” line item in there?

  • Alarming morning…

Hope all is well at Chez Lex.

Well, I happen to LIKE bacon.

  • Marianne Matthews

Scott … My husband claims that bacon is one of the five essential foods, and it’s all that’s keeping him alive and well at 84.

That puts me in my place …

      Marianne,

Wish you both lived out here. Bacon? We have that. Some of the best I’ve tasted. http://bit.ly/mXEPh This bacon is in the European style, rather than the Southern style, best sold by the slab and cut thick. Don’t cook to crispy — just past transparent will do nicely. It tastes like smokey butter.

Smiles do come to the children’s face when we cook bacon, grits and eggs for breakfast. And yes, we do live in California.

      Live long and enjoy!

Of course you can trust your government. Just ask any American Indian, I’m sure they’ll tell you all about it.

Native Americans were granted U.S. citizenship and the right to vote, 54 years after African-American men were formally enfranchised in 1870 with the 15th Amendment, and four years after women received the same right with the 19th Amendment.

Nevertheless, the Native American Indian still has a number of obstacles that deny him participation in our democracy. Despite several recent legislative acts, there incredibly remain many obstacles for Native Americans to vote to this day.

Cry me a river for the Native Americans. No pun intended.

Guess what? Lifes a bitch, it moves on, no guarantees, and it ain’t fair.

        Get with the program.

Gosh! None of that sounds right! We have the Bureau of Indian Affairs which labors night and day to look after all those good little indians and they have the Indian Health Service and their own schools and everything provided to them through the generosity of the American government. I’m sure that if they have voting problems that ACORN can straighten them right out and make sure they vote the way they’re supposed to. Why heck, the Indians in this country are a testament to government supervised everything!

Now we get a chance to sign up for the same kind of care!

Lets not forget those hundreds of casinos the Indians have built to expropiate the white man (and several skin colors) of their ill-gotten gains…
