I can vouch for debauchery in SEA, but not so much in USAFE… coz I was single at the one time and seriously married at the other. In other news… McNeil-Lehrer ran a segment on this kerfluffle last evening (along with some pretty good pics, too) and my take-away was “where do I apply?” Noting, of course that the hiring party probably has no use for an ol’ geezer, more’s the pity.

Something much worse came to light last year — not by contractors, but by the President’s own personal staff. The faux outrage now, is in stark contrast with the silence of December. The hypocrisy isn’t shocking — it is merely par for the course.

As a participant in many hazings over the years, both on the giving and receiving end, with some in the old days risking physical harm, I can tell you this is repulsive and over the top. “Tut tut” my backside! Far worse than any fraternity initiation I ever experienced, and reprehensible.
This once again highlights the problem with “contractors” – lack of discipline, accountability, and no command and control. It is a cancer. A similar cancer severely damaged the Navy in 1991, from which it never really recovered.
anybody want to bet a nickel that the REAL investigation findings (vice whatever will be eventually published)will read something like this: “no, it had nothing to do with the Yanks or the Aussies, it was the South African contractors, who (by the way), were also treating the Gurkhas like they were little brown children, and that was the entirety of the language barrier…”
