“Obama calls Kanye ‘jackass.’”
The truth is a defense to libel.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Moment of clarity?
Likely the only time it will happen – I agree with Obama. But I’ve thought that about this douche for several years now. Kanye is the one who claimed that “George Bush hates black people” on a fundraiser for victims of Katrina.
“Off-the-record” or not, true or not, it is inappropriate for POTUS to drop down to that level and make comments to score points on meaningless entertainment drivel.
Related observation: Pres Obama is either giving a speech or an interview. Does he actually do anything besides campaign?
That’s probably one of the only times I’ve agreed with Obama as well. Is anything the POTUS says ever really “off the record?” I’m sure he knew exactly what he was doing-scoring with the pop culture crowd.
But he forgets he’s all over YouTube from the past several years, saying things that directly contradict what he says now, and it doesn’t even get commented on by the WH…I think he just thrives on the power play of the moment.
Shel is probably correct. The Won gots to keep his street creds with his peeps. But I also like xformeds’ comment A LOT.
Someone else also pointed out elsewhere that ABCs admission that they actually “clean up” the Obamassiahs’ remarks makes one wonder just how much ELSE is the MSN not reporting about the man, and how hard are they working to make him look good? I’m putting my $ on “overtime.”
While commenting that West is a jackass may be technically correct, it is beneath the dignity of the Office he occupies to do so. However, once again BHO demonstrates what an inexperienced amateur he really is.
Well, Dust, that’s why it was (supposed to be) off the record, no? It’s not as if no president ever spoke off the record before, and -to be honest- it’s a breath of fresh air. I’m with XBradTC on this one.
As for Virgil’s question, the press has been making presidents look good for a long time. Ever hear of Nan Britton?
Then there’s FDR’s polio, and JFK’s skirt-chasing (although I don’t respect that one). On the other hand, LBJ caught some flack for doing silly things like picking up his beagles by the ears, and going 110mpg while drinking a beer.
I’m not gonna pile on Obama for calling someone a jackass. Off the record is off the record. He’s human (no, really). The left got all in a huff when Bush called a reporter an asshole. Big deal. He was.
As for why Obama called West a jackass, I think he’s just jealous when someone else steals the show.
That’s his job.
“That’s his job.”
Boy you got THAT right! Read you “5 by”
The coolest part of that incident for me was that Bush didn’t apologize, just regretted that something expressed in a private aside was snooped and repeated.
Also, what XBrad said about ‘jealous’.
In his own words.
Off the record? BS. No such thing when a reporter is present. Off the record is like “I’ll still respect you in the morning” or “Winds are 5 to 8 on the DZ”. I never make “off the record” comments when anyone in the media is within earshot. Ever. Your career may depend upon it. As for teh “BHO Show”, guess the media people can’t be trusted anymore. A tame pit viper may be tame but it can’t change its nature. It is what it is.
