One of Congressman Charlie Rangel’s allies claims that many congressmen have sharing issues:

Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) downplayed the seriousness of allegations against Rangel that he failed to disclose sources of income and pay taxes on some properties, saying that many lawmakers suffer from innocent lapses in judgment when filing mandatory financial disclosure forms.

“I want to tell you, there are many members who, if you go back over all of their records, over all of the years, you’re going to find that there were disclosures that were not made,” Waters said during an appearance on MSNBC Wednesday morning.

Perhaps. But few of them, I think, are currently serving chairmen of the House Ways and Means Committee, charged with overseeing the federal tax code and the IRS.

Like Mr. Rangel is.

  • I think I see a pattern developing.

This again illustrates the prevailing corruption of our government: the Administration, the Congress, and the Supreme Court.

Democrats work sooo hard for the little guy, it’s easy to understand why they might forget that they made a little extra scratch on the side. Usually it might be a little “Pin” money from selling hand made quilts or extra eggs that their chickens may lay.

However, Republicans are greedy, so they should be prosecuted when they misrepresent the illegal wealth they accumulate while in office.

  • You mean good ‘ol Charlie – why he’s “colorful” and as Rep Peter King (REP NY) stated yesterday, ” and he’s been here 40 years….” echoing Polanski supporters who say “but its been so long….”.

They just don’t get it, none of them. Not god damn one.

That statement indicates that Slapsy Maxy Waters failed to disclose …

The democrats are a target-rich environment.

Edward: Ms. Waters didn’t specify a party when she said lots of “lawmakers” are guilty of this. I’d love it if the regulating agency took her remark as an invitation to audit EVERY Representative and Senator, from BOTH parties. Maybe thin the herd a bit, eh?

There is far too little vocal outrage on the various news outlets about Rangel. It needs to be on the front burner for everyone. They guy’s a crook. How else has he managed on the salary he gets to amass the kind of assets he’s been hiding….which begs the point that he has hidden the assets because it’s damned hard to explain how he got them in the first place. C R O O K .

I love it when Rangels’ defenders always quickly point out that he is a patriot and Korean war veteran, yet veteran war hero status didn’t cut it for the left in Duke Cunninghams case, in which they used the word crook quite liberally and loudly. Another case of whose ox is being gored. “Where you stand depends on where you sit” is a phrase which has been used as a powerful explanatory tool to analyze peoples actions, but tellingly, while one might think the Elephants would defend Cunningham to the death because of where both he and they sat–they did not–but roundly condemmed him instead–admittedly as much in sorrow as in anger. But the Donkeys? They just sit. On their hands. Crickets chirping.

Disgusting. And STEVEC is right. Yet another of oh so many blatant demonstrations of just how deeply the MSM is in the O-tank. They’ve merged with its surface–coated the damn thing with a molecular bond.

When only Congress can investigate itself, when the attorney general is appointed by the executive, the only oversight left on two of the three branches of our government is at the ballot box every 2, 4 or 6 years.

We’ve not been doing a very good job.
