It’s not so very far away. Great pics.
Maybe next year.

Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Memories from my youth, brunch at flo’s,then touring the planes of fame museum. In those days you could wander around the hangers and talk to the people working on the warbirds(maybe you still can).
One thing that still sticks in my mind is a picture of a P-51(as I remember)and a dragster.Picture is taken at night with the dragster at 0ft AGL and the P-51 at 10 maybe 20ft AGL right on top of the dragster. Both are running a very rich mixture, lots of fire.
I sure would like to see that picture again.
Thanks for the memory reload.

David McCampbell is at the top of the list for peopele I wish I had met.
My uncle flew the P-40, the P-47, and the P-51 in the China-Burma-India theater of operations during WWII. What incredible pictures!
I have been an avid Warbird buff since childhood….sometimes I feel I was born in the wrong timeframe – should have been borne in the late 1920′s instead of the early 1960′s…..
Megamillions is up to $200 Million for tonight’s drawing and one of the first things I will do with the winnings, (if I am so blessed) is the purchase of a B-25 Mitchell I found for sale on the web….Not as sexy as a P-51 or a P-38 but I will be able to take my newly acquired girlfriends for a flight with me as we tour the Hawaiian Islands and land back at my new Maui estate……I can see it all now…..Mai-Tais in the hot-tub with the girls and sunsets that will bring tears to my eyes….
Here’s the details on the B-25….

SK1, Snake Eater can probably give you a receipt for “Cubi Specials”. The are pretty good too.
Airboss, speaking of Cubi, saw some news pieces about the successful port visit of the USS George Washington Carrier Strike Group (Cowpens, Fitzgerald, CVW-5) to Manila during mid-August. First time in 13 years for a carrier. Think it was four days…have to wonder if anyone was allowed out of perimeter for nostalgic visits down memory lane (Fields Ave., Magsaysay, Barrio Baretto, etc.). Glad they’ve started visiting again. A little liberty goes a long way. A little good liberty goes even further. (though it’s all good, right?)
Not liberty in the Middle East during Ramadan . . .
I crewed on the B25 Pacific Princess back in the 80s, Fun times, Great people, and an awesome airplane to fly around in. Plus working on R2600s was a kick for a diesel mechanic. PP was in blue navy PBj markings back then but nose art was same.
Even though I served on a carrier, I am not fluent in aviator. Something I have seen here before but can’t figure out;
Would someone please translate PrOn?
Remember, you only remain ignorant if you don’t ask.
chaps, pictures of cool airplanes are a kind of p*rnograpy for aviators, but if you write headlines on blog posts that talk about p*rn, you get links to, and attention from, all of the less savory and darker corners of the ‘net. “Pr0n” on the other hand seems to get you a bye.
We like to keep things neat and tidy around here
Used to watch the Avengers, Catalinas and the occasional AT Ford Trimotor as a kid in Helena, Montana during the fire season. And in Hamilton in the Bitteroot Valley visiting the cousins. Johnson Bell Flying Service out of Missoula used the Fords to drop smoke jumpers. It was slow enough to get them on target.
Lex, not sure if you noticed, but there were several shots in the second half of the group of a Corsair with markings of the SSHWFGD’s.
What a blast from the past. I also have many fond memories from my childhood of attending the show at Chino. I had the honor of meeting Pappy Boyington there. Even then, it was a real treat, since I too was weened on Black Sheep Squadron.
Don’t worry boys there’s plenty to go around:
