The producer of the Matrix and the Lord of the Rings trilogy is taking on a new quest:
Now the Oscar-winning American film-maker is set to embark on his most perilous quest to date: making a big-screen biopic of the prophet Muhammad.
Budgeted at around $150m (£91.5m), the film will chart Muhammad’s life and examine his teachings. Osborne told Reuters that he envisages it as “an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam”.
Osborne’s production will reportedly feature English-speaking Muslim actors. It is backed by the Qatar-based production company Alnoor Holdings, who have installed the Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi to oversee all aspects of the shoot.
The special effects bill will probably be high with al Qaradawi at the helm – it’s so hard these days to find actual Jews willing to be killed “down to the very last one,” so that’ll have to be done on green screen, I’m afraid.
Rumors are that Dakota Fanning was lobbying to play Aisha but didn’t get the reading: Too old.

Well, I thought that even the image of the great prophet Muhammed was looked at as sacred. Whether it be a cartoon, video, characture, statue, etc. To recreate that image was to invite the wrath of a fatwa (sp?) and having people stab you in an alley.
But, I guess in the interest of showing the world how the islamic religion is based in peace and love, maybe we will forgo the Jihads for this one time. Or not.
Probably shoot it from Mo’s POV, a la the first 30 minutes of “Dark Passage”. It’s the only way not to show him. Just don’t have any mirrors around.
This ought to be revisionist history at Hollywood very best. Lights! Sound! Action! (No. Not THAT action!)
First of all, I don’t care about some desert dwellers’ mumbo-jumbo. Second, they’re bound to get homicide bomber movie-goers who are offended by some word, scene, whatever.
PS The left hated Gibson’s movie The Passion, they’ll probably line up to see this. Hmm, maybe that’s a good thing.
The killing of the Qurayshi Jews would probably have to be filmed like some amateurs filmed a version of the D-day landings. It was linked last year on Jerry Pournelle’s website and showed the stages of filming. The result was pretty good, but the build up was pretty rough.
I doubt they’ll find even one Jew that wants to be beheaded for the sake of the film, much less five or 6 so they can it from different angles.
Come on guys, he’s listed as a “moderate”.
Awww crap…just read some of his writings. Soo much for that. Anyways, the guy’s 83, maybe his virgins are getting warmed up. You know, getting a fresh shearing…
The director for the original The Message was killed in a suicide bomb in 2005.
They keep pushing the edge of the “artistic” envelope, and soon they will find what happens on the other side. Red carpet grand opening filled with “stars and starlets” and ka-boom – the religion of peace will speak.
Or as Achmed the Dead Terrorists says “shut up or I’ll keel you”
Now you are talking – a movie with Achmed. I’m wonder if Jeff Dunham travels with a personal security service…
Interesting to note Barrie Osborne’s mother was jewish.
Just another expensive propaganda film…yawn.
Perhaps they could bail Polanski out of jail to play Muhammad…
Some in Cali wouldn’t mind if he play a Qurayshi Jew.
