Seems a Sudanese alien had grown offended by the shrine to the Holy Mother in a wall near his bus stop, so he mixed up some cement and set to fixing that hole in the wall. Two women grabbed the statue and saved it, and he was eventually arrested. My Florentine friend noted that crap like that only happens in northern Italy (that is, Europe). Down here in Naples, they wouldn't dare. Too many empty wells and hand grenades.
