Targets of Opportunityblog advertising is good for you Credo"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke “You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Amazon AssociateFor the Effort!Winnar!![]() Subscribe![]() CategoriesPagesTagsacademy

Words fail and tears flow.
Wow. This post should come with a warning.
If you don’t choke up when reading that you might want to wonder what’s wrong with you. I cannot imagine the feelings each discovery unleashed in the parents….
Drat, now my muzzle is all soggy and tear stained.
This needs an NSFW tag. Tears are OK. Tears at work, not so much. It did prompt me to offer up a quick prayer of thanks for my own family’s health….
Wow. Just…. wow. D*mn you Lex for drowning my keyboard… I can hardly see the letters to type. But thank you for the inspiration on such a day as this…..
I had to read this to the wife. She cried.
I have five daughters. Dangit…….this hurts so much and is wonderful at the same time. I cried.
Well, at least now we know where angels come from.
And yes, I’m wiping the tears away as well as I think of my own beautiful 6-year-old daughter whom I can easily imagine doing this very same thing.
Bless her heart! What a wonderful thing she did for that family. My heart just breaks thinking of the parents finding the last note.
Excuse me, I need to blow my nose.
I had to stop reading it. Have a beautiful 5 year old at home. Why does God, if there is one, allow such things to happen. I won’t ever understand why he would allow such a tragedy, while murderers and others of such ilk live to old age. My heart just hurts reading this.
What a lovely heartbreaker of a story. I’m crying for all parents who are crying.
And for those families of the 12 soldiers killed at Ft. Hood this afternoon, as well as the 31 other soldiers wounded. Bless them all — and every one of you.
Marianne
It’s always heart breaking to read of a young child taken so early. These things happen because the world is fallen and sin cursed. I can’t say why God allows such things when He has the power to stop it all. The only thing I can say is “His judgments are just.” That He cares is witnessed by the act of love He committed in sending His Son into this world to bring the message of salvation and to pay the price for it.
In the not too distant future, all the nonsense of death and destruction will be ended and he will set everything aright and evil will be banished to eternal hell. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
God, nature, fait, or whatever you believe in, gave those wonderful parents a equally wonderful daughter who hopefully has contributed to their happiness more than I was able to give in 60+ years. It’s not the quantity but the quality. As Lex said, she was, and is, pure class.
A bunch of us said ‘Goodbye’ to a friend this week; 32 years young. Much was said at the memorial of the kind of life this man lived, and I remarked that it spoke as much to his upbringing as to his character. Like my friend, this sweet young spirit gave back so much in such a few short years. Even a thousand fold. Priceless and Eternal is such love.
Mongo,
I’ve attended far too many funerals for my years. It’s to the point that I dread hearing taps anymore. I force myself to go because they were my friends. I stand through it because their families deserve it, but I can’t do too many more. I wonder why I’m left behind, and It bothers me to see so many gone at so young an age.
God bless them all, and their families.
Xboss. I agree that she’s had more an impact and provided happiness and memories in her short time than most are able to contribute. a beautiful soul.
Words fail me. I have two daughters and a son. I simply can’t imagine the loss that such a thing entails. God bless them all.
Really puts things in perspective. I’m going to go cuddle my kids now. And dry my eyes.
Tears.
’nuff sed
Looks like I just found a new charity to support, and a new book for the living room.
Makes a man think, my life sure is good right now no matter what I thought of it 5 minutes ago.

So beautiful and so heartbreaking – how is it that 2 such extreme emotions can exist in the same moment.
Having a friends 3 yo daughter still in the hospital after having a brain tumor removed a short week ago this one hurts. Had to step out of the office…
