"Sign on, young man, and sail with me. The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones
"Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra"
"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche
"A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke
“You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours.”--General Sir Charles Napier

"Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex
Robert Gibbs, besides being an unbearably smug and ignorant man, suffers from selective memory. He has conveniently forgotten the farrago of vile implications cast at the previous president, and posters of him as Hitler, displayed to giggles, at political meetings throughout the country.
‘Selective memory’ is first cousin to what we females call ‘selective marital deafness.’ If you have trouble figuring out what that is [and I'm sure you won't have, because you all are very bright] you could ask your wives. They can explain.

“Selective marital deafness”
Bwaahahaha!! SO true! I first encountered it as a child when my near “totally deaf” grandfather would perk up with a “what dear?” whenever his name was mentioned/taken in vain three rooms away.
Children seem to suffer from the same affliction. At least mine do…..

Anyone else notice how Gibbs & Goebbels both start with the same letter? Both appear to have a similar profession.
Or, perhaps, simply share the same playbook.
It’s amazing to watch history being rewritten in front of one’s eyes…
I continue to compare Gibbs to Baghdad Bob, although I don’t think he’s as smart…

At least Baghdad Bob had alliteration going for him…

Gibbs is an insufferable, obtuse ass. Period. And to add insult to injury, one obviously deficient in brain-power as well.
Gibbs? When he talks, he doesn’t say anything. If you stumble onto a White House Press Corps session, he doesn’t answer questions, he deflects them. You don’t know any more after he speaks than you did before… to me, he’s just boring… ignorable.
Another possible failure of imagination from this administration.
Anybody remember when that white cop in Cambridge, with the assistance of a latino and a black cop IIRC, arrested the black professor acting like a nut-job outside his house? And Obama instantly condemned racial profiling, and blew a local crazy neighbor issue into a weeklong national affair that culminated in the ridiculous “beer summit?”
Can anyone explain to me how the same President who instantly knew the ins and outs of that case, and that the cop was clearly and un-equivocally in the wrong, now seems incapable of connecting the dots at Fort Hood and is instead urging none of us to rush to judgment? Seems like there are definitely gaps in his ability to imagine what the writing on the wall looks like in some cases.
Wow – it must be incredible to have the power to change history with a few words. To make sure that every narrative suits your own personal purposes.
Someone needs to test Gibbs for some short and long term memory issues.
Tool.
