They've increased the use of overhead bins and someone is going to get hurt as people try to get their baggage that would normally be checked, out of the bins. As my husband said in a text to me while waiting for passengers to get settled on his flight from NYC to Palm Beach a couple weeks ago, 'Old people and overhead baggage do not mix.' The older Americans had no qualms checking their bags before the fees. Now people who have lost a considerable amount of upper body muscle mass are putting heavy bags up over their heads. For the first time, I now try to get middle or window seats. Aisle seats seem dangerous to me now... The baggage fees are dangerous.
