“Former” LSOs are like former Marines. (Time index 00:25)
Pretty darn rare.
Them as know, know.

The stature of our homeland is no more than the measure of ourselves. Our job is to keep her free. Our will is to keep the torch of freedom burning for all. To this solemn purpose we call on the young, the brave, the strong, and the free. Heed my call, Come to the sea. Come Sail with me." -- John Paul Jones "Pardon him, Theodotus; he is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature" --George Bernard Shaw, "Caesar and Cleopatra" "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."--Friedrich Nietzsche "A kind Providence has placed in our breasts a hatred of the unjust and cruel, in order that we may preserve ourselves from cruelty and injustice. They who bear cruelty, are accomplices in it. The pretended gentleness which excludes that charitable rancour, produces an indifference which is half an approbation. They never will love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Edmund Burke "Μολὼν λαβέ" -- Leonidas "Blogito Ergo Sum" -- Neptunus Lex Relocating?Military members find information on homes for military by visiting Military Homes.com For the Effort!Subscribe![]() Tagsafghanistan AGW Araby army Blogging buffoonery china culture economy Flying Friday Musings geopol GWOT Headlines health care History iran iraq issues Media Memory Lane Military Navy norks Oz pakistan piracy politicians politics Politics and Culture pundits Russia science seals sea stories silliness Small Stuff SoCal sport technology UAVs UK usaf usmc weapons WP Cumulus Flash tag cloud by Roy Tanck and Luke Morton requires Flash Player 9 or better. |

Jumpin’ Jehosephat! Someone needs to go to Meridian and explain to them newsies the difference between Virginia and North Carolina!
NDCDTL is standard for T-45, but that’s ok because it is a skill they will use once they get into the Hornet!
NDCDTL = Nose Down, Coming Down, To Land? “Deck Diving – Spotting the Deck” (not using mirror/IFLOLS to land – doing a visual landing)?
“Nose down/come down to land,” pretty close Spaz! Generally a response to a HBIC-AR.
And pace my brutha paddles Nose, when a Hornet pilot does it, it’s because he’s auto
Because he’s auto? Hmmm, I thought it was because he was high…
Thanks for setting me straight.
HBIC-AR = Hi!(gh); F(l)at Glideslop(e); In Close – At the Ramp. Geez can’t LSOs just say ‘hello’?
Spaz – LSO’s don’t say “hello,” they say “Goodbye!”
QUE? “Bolter Bolter Bolter” sounds ‘goodbyeish’.
“Waveoff” is the ultimate goodbye.
‘Own W/O’ is the final FU retort then?
Here’s a fun drinking game: every time the journalist says “pilot,” take a drink. Double shot when she says “air pilot.”
“Naval aircraft carrier” was pretty good too. Didn’t know the Army had one…
Ever hear of the Army Transport Service?
Seriously, the Transportation Branch has some good sized ships. Most, if not all, commanded by Warrant Officers. No carriers that I know of, though.
A friend who was in the Army in the late 60s said they had re-up promotion in the Army in Germany. Went something to the effect, “Don’t even think about the Navy. Go Army Navy.” I was in the Navy at the time, and told him there was something seriously wrong with that slogan.
If his last name is “Cody” and the callsign is NOT “Buffalo”, or “Bill”, I will be disappointed. Then again, I knew a USAF guy with the last name that is eponymous with a very popular hot sauce from new Iberia, LA, but his callsign was “Bullet”.
What was it that Miss USA girl said about maps and people not knowing geography? Check out their map!
Somebody swiped one of the Carolinas!
I guess for navy air pilots it’s just one of those fly over states and therefore, unimportant
Must’ve been the Marines took it, and put it under camouflage.
All I know is that the B is from Kingsville. Did a tour in T-2s with a C for Chase Field. And it was when the peanut farmer was the CinC. Now, I have dated myself, haven’t I?
Yes the Army has boats. The biggest is about 300ft long. Diesel Engines. Crew of about 50.
And ALL are commanded by Warrant Officers. The big ones have 8 Warrants and 42 (0r so) enlisted people.
