NDCDTL

“Former” LSOs are like former Marines. (Time index 00:25)

Pretty darn rare.

Them as know, know.

Jumpin’ Jehosephat! Someone needs to go to Meridian and explain to them newsies the difference between Virginia and North Carolina!

NDCDTL is standard for T-45, but that’s ok because it is a skill they will use once they get into the Hornet!

  • NDCDTL = Nose Down, Coming Down, To Land? “Deck Diving – Spotting the Deck” (not using mirror/IFLOLS to land – doing a visual landing)?

“Nose down/come down to land,” pretty close Spaz! Generally a response to a HBIC-AR.

And pace my brutha paddles Nose, when a Hornet pilot does it, it’s because he’s auto :-)

  • HBIC-AR = Hi!(gh); F(l)at Glideslop(e); In Close – At the Ramp. Geez can’t LSOs just say ‘hello’?

  • Here’s a fun drinking game: every time the journalist says “pilot,” take a drink. Double shot when she says “air pilot.”

“Naval aircraft carrier” was pretty good too. Didn’t know the Army had one… :)

Ever hear of the Army Transport Service? 8-)

Seriously, the Transportation Branch has some good sized ships. Most, if not all, commanded by Warrant Officers. No carriers that I know of, though.

A friend who was in the Army in the late 60s said they had re-up promotion in the Army in Germany. Went something to the effect, “Don’t even think about the Navy. Go Army Navy.” I was in the Navy at the time, and told him there was something seriously wrong with that slogan.

If his last name is “Cody” and the callsign is NOT “Buffalo”, or “Bill”, I will be disappointed. Then again, I knew a USAF guy with the last name that is eponymous with a very popular hot sauce from new Iberia, LA, but his callsign was “Bullet”.

What was it that Miss USA girl said about maps and people not knowing geography? Check out their map!

  • All I know is that the B is from Kingsville. Did a tour in T-2s with a C for Chase Field. And it was when the peanut farmer was the CinC. Now, I have dated myself, haven’t I?

  • CW4, USAR boat guy!

Yes the Army has boats. The biggest is about 300ft long. Diesel Engines. Crew of about 50.

And ALL are commanded by Warrant Officers. The big ones have 8 Warrants and 42 (0r so) enlisted people.
