Inhomogeneity

Rather a clumsy word, but this effort to analyze the raw Global Historical Climate Network dataset from Darwin Airport in Oz shows that at least some of the assumptions underpinning the AGW argument need serious re-assessment. If this has happened on a small scale, no biggie. If it has happened more broadly, yeah: biggie.

This sort of thing is time-consuming and resource intensive, and for years now the resources have flowed the other way. The buffoonery at the CRU in East Anglia has set the UK’s Met to reanalyze 160 years worth of climate data, an effort that they say will take three years.

Copenhagen winds up next week. Al Gore is reduced to poetry. The bureaucracy steps in where democracy fears to tread. And the developing world fears a swindle.

So say we all.

    If they reduce an agreement to paper, and sign it, it will be a swindle. Not just of the developing world, but of all of us.

    The Governor of Oregon has recently stated that hydro-power is not renewable energy, and the OR Attorney General is establishing an environmental crimes enforcement unit. The eco-maniacs are running amok. It would be nice if we could find enough rubber rooms for them before they hurt themselves, along with the rest of us.

  • I’ve a poem for the esteemed former Vice President

    There once was a man, name of Gore;
    Whose tendencies trended toward whore;
    While peddling a scam;
    Not giving a damn;
    If the subjects could even keep score.

    You two guys are just TOO cynical. The hearts of true believers are ALWAYS pure, dontcha know…I. for one, welcome my new greenie overlords–as long as they don’t mess with the free flow of imported Hatian Rhum. :)

    (On a more serious note about true believers, the purity of their beliefs is PRECISELY what makes them so dangerous. Gore is NOT cynical. He really DOES NOT see the dichotomy between his personal life-style, the hundreds of millions his green financial empire accrues and that which he espouses. If you strapped a polygraph on the guy the needle wouldn’t budge…..which is EXACTLY the scary part. Be afraid, be very afraid)

    Well I, at least, am all for this limiting of CO2. And we need to start with any dadgummed country that has an active volcano. Any Geol 101 stud can tell you that an active volcano produces more CO2 than a year’s worth of all mankind. So let’s go out and fine all those eco-unfriendly countries. Wha? They ain’t got no money? We gotta pay for their CO2 production since they burn charcoal and cause de-forestation? And they ain’t got no money? And we can’t stop volcanoes, even tho the EPA outlaws CO2 production? And since they are not as developed, we bite the bullet for them so they can produce more CO2 to catch up to our “development”? Whassup wif dat?

    Actually some old grad school chums are blissfully lusting after this change – they foresee ballooning research budgets and job security for the next 25 years. Once BHO gets ready to ink the deal sell your civil air carrier stock, your transportation stocks, your energy stocks, and start buying gold, silver, and solar/wind stocks.

      How about we place a tightly coiled piece of rope around the neck of every global warming shill. THAT would kill a lot of the CO2 emissions we have. Doing the same with the entire left, would just about end it all.

      Problem solved, back to work.

        I agree. It’s not like they serve any useful purpose. And their carbon footprint is immense compared to ordinary people.

    So, CO2 is bad. We exhale CO2, therefore breathing is bad. The fewer people breathing helps the environment. If the entire EPA were to collectively hold it’s breath for… oh, let’s say….10 to 15 minutes, would that help save the planet?

  • I’m simply aghast at the EPA decision and the unmitigated gall used in justifying it. Can a revolution be far behind? Seriously? The implications of Miz Jackson’s agency acting in our “best interests” are mind-boggling. I’m beginning to think I’ve lived too long.

    • Its going to take a revolution – hopefully a velvet one at the ballot box but my fear is we’ve gone too far to recover without more drastic measures being required.

        OldT6, here’s someone you might want to vote for in 2010.

          Boss, at my age I don’t know about the fix bayonets & charge bit, but I’m more than up for the Tavern action bit! :)

          PS: Good stuff!

        • At last – somebody willing to tell it like it is. I’d follow that man anywhere.

          I like the cut of his jib.

          While serving in Taji, Iraq on August 20, 2003 as commander of the 2d Battalion 20th Field Artillery, 4th Infantry Division, Lieutenant Colonel West was in charge of the interrogation of an Iraqi police officer who was suspected of having information about planned attacks on American forces. According to the Iraqi police officer, Yehiya Kadoori Hamoodi claimed that during the interrogation, soldiers under West’s supervision assaulted him attempting to get him to talk.

          The police officer insisted that he did not know anything about planned attacks and was loyal to the United States Army. However, when the detainee didn’t talk, Lieutenant Colonel West fired his 9mm pistol close to the man’s head and at this point, the man, according to some mainstream media such as CNN[1], gave information about a planned ambush, resulting in its being thwarted. According to West, there were no further ambushes on U.S. forces in Taji until he was relieved of command on October 4, 2003.

          • The more you uncover the better he looks. Yeah its a fired up campaign speech and God knows we know that doesn’t in itself amount to anything. But he’s talking about the right things – the soul of this country – and looks like he could kick some ass if need be to boot.

            I’m in. I’m not sure who he’s running against and I don’t care. I’m in.

        OT6, I agree. Hope it can be done in the velvet manner, but it may have to be done otherwise. I don’t claim to be especially smart with an IQ equal to, oh, BHO, or educated at the finest schools, like, oh, BHO, though I believe that I have read enough history to know that our current “go along to get along”, or “let the system work” is only good up to a point.

        There is no guarantee that our country will continue to exist, and Jefferson’s comment about blood being spilled was not made in jest or as an off-hand comment.

        Hesitate to use the phrase -however I think that the tipping point may be reached in the next few years if things do not meaningfully change on the political front.

    I was going make an attempt to win a second PPA, but Snake already said my first award (Nov. 17) is in the mail, and I certainly don’t want to appear greedy/covetous/piggish to the readership.

    Must be Surface USPS.

    • Snake Eater

      Rest assured your PPA, suitable for framing, is in the mail…the quest for a second is indeed a noble goal…press on. Best
