Cherry Picking

If the observed data doesn’t fit your theory, you can either modify your theory or reject the data.

A group in Russia are now claiming that the CRU in East Anglia chose the latter course:

On Tuesday, the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) issued a report claiming that the Hadley Center for Climate Change based at the headquarters of the British Meteorological Office in Exeter (Devon, England) had probably tampered with Russian-climate data.

The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic global-warming theory. Analysts say Russian meteorological stations cover most of the country’s territory, and that the Hadley Center had used data submitted by only 25% of such stations in its reports. Over 40% of Russian territory was not included in global-temperature calculations for some other reasons, rather than the lack of meteorological stations and observations.

The data of stations located in areas not listed in the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature UK (HadCRUT) survey often does not show any substantial warming in the late 20th century and the early 21st century.

Curiouser and curiouser.

Meanwhile, look who’s bringing down the house in Copenhagen:

President Chavez brought the house down.

When he said the process in Copenhagen was “not democratic, it is not inclusive, but isn’t that the reality of our world, the world is really and imperial dictatorship…down with imperial dictatorships” he got a rousing round of applause.

When he said there was a “silent and terrible ghost in the room” and that ghost was called capitalism, the applause was deafening.

Robert Mugabe was there to lecture the developed world as well, to much approbation.

Chavez and Mugabe: As comedians, those guys kill.

As Dennis Miller said last night (paraphrasing): “Sure, give Zimbabwe ten million dollars and ask them to put up a few windmills.” No problem.

Of course, our wise and learned SOS Clinton said that the U.S. is ready to join a $100 Billion Climate Aid Fund. I am not ready to do so, but apparently my government is.

Delingpole has been ALL OVER this whole thing since the beginning. Significantly you will note from the comments that the Telegraph paper proper hasn’t yet touched the subject–refuses to allow in in it’s pages. Apparently it’s their weasel way of trying on the one hand to minimize damage to their long-standing buy-in to AGW by only allowing the info to be posted on it’s supposedly less “authoritative” blog (and less widely read) while at the same time managing a cya maneuver if this stuff really blows up big time in the MSM in that they can claim their organization had it all along.

  • Best source of info about “THE BIG FIX” is “Watts Up With That!” a good regular read… kinda like here (albeit for a different reason). http://wattsupwiththat.com/

I’d recommend that no capitalism based income be used to support this AGW pile of smoking HS. Let the like of Chavez, Sean Penn, Danny Glover, Mugabe, and their cronies pay.

Are we sure there are no available drones for this event?

The report provides lots of very interesting graphs that clearly show that every Russian meteo station that had the longest uninterrupted no-relocation data collection indicated slight cooling or just slight warming and those were the stations that were excluded from the CRU programming… The RUssian meteo stations that were located in the big urban areas, that were relocated many times, that had short period of data collection and that showed more than slight warming were the only ones used in the CRU programming… F##king unbelievable!

Be careful about spreading doubtist and denier lies like this. The IPCC Inquisitors might get their hooks into you. Who knows what tortures they would come up with. Endless loops of Inconvenient Truth, or Mikey Moore movies. Nothing but AlGore speeches on your iPod. For the hard core deniers – movies of Rosie and Al engaging in conjugal activities with each other. Maybe Nancy or Michelle joining in.

Just the usual suspects on the unending quest to destroy capitalism by any means possible.

If our President had any brains and other anatomical assets, he would have just ignored the whole dumb event. Pretty much the same for the “diplomacy” that takes place at the United Nations.

I for one am not interested in supporting the rest of the world any longer. By foreign aid, by protecting their freedom or economic interests, or anything else. Perhaps make exceptions for Israel (our one consistent ally in the Middle East) and our British Commonwealth cousins (UK, Canada, Australia and Kiwiland.) The rest of the world should just figure out how to get along without old Uncle Sugar holding them up.

Then, apply the same principles to about half the residents of the U.S. who are used to “riding in the wagon instead of helping pull it.”

Gotta go find a copy of that Ayn Rand book, it may have some applicable thoughts.

    Speaking of comedians…
The current threat by the EPA to regulate CO2 unless Congress passes cr@p and trash, and the dems response of “Oh, we better do that” reminds me of a scene from a movie. Anyone else recall “Blazing Saddles” and the scene where the sheriff is accosted by the bad guys, pulls his revolver out, points at his own head and threatens himself if they don’t back off?
