I don’t have access to any tanker sized Guinness containers – but I’ll send you a copy of The Search for God and Guinness: A Biography of the Beer that Changed the World if you are interested. You can read it while you sip a non-tanker sized Guinness.

As soon as I have those coordinates I’ll shoot you an email.

Lord, we give thanks for the bounteous feast placed before us…

  • Lex – when I sent that to you I totally forgot to tell you where…

I got the image. Go here. It’s a GREAT site.

    • Mongo

Thanks to you, Kris, I have a new recipe…Guinness stew.

    • Bruce Jones

Yeah, I pointed that out the other day when the news of the brewery fire got posted. It’s a shame that troll encouraged her to lock down comments.

I’ve thought she and Lex are somewhat kindred spirits. Can’t think of a better way to spend a rainy day than listening to the two of them telling hangar stories.

And Mongo, don’t forget the Guinness cake, Guinness brownies, . . .

Thinking I might be summat in ‘moderation hell’. Posted something about a tolerable alternative to Guinness, should supplies dwindle for a tad, but it went off into the ether and was lost.

Bruce, any such recipes will find their way into the single copy recipe book at Mongo’s Hootchfire Bar & Grill.

The local pub, Byrne’s Irish Tavern, sells a Guinness Cheese that is unbelievably good. It’s a sort of a medium cheddar with these deep-brown laces of Guinness goodness all through it. Think of a blue cheese, with the blue replaced by brown. And not as white.

FWIW, they also make a Bailey’s Irish Cream cheesecake.

          Both are wicked good. :)

Had one, not of tanker size however, yesterday during lunch at MCAS Miramar Memorial GC.

All I want to know is if we can get a convoy to run that trailer by Kandahar Airbase for me & my shipmates??? This place NEEDS a few tanker run fulls of that AWESOME brew….

I’ve got an R & R coming up in the spring, and I’m meeting the wife in DUBLIN for 10 days…approximately 2 days worth of that 10 days will be spent at the Guinness Brewery sampling the wares…..that and a few good CUBAN CIGARS, and life will be GOOD……..

You’ll enjoy the tour. They give you a pint at the end (included with the tour fee) at the Gravity Bar. More is available, of course, for purchase. And it has a nice view of surrounding Dublin.

  • Grandpa Bluewater

You could ask for another tank trailer, same size, of Bass Ale. Rolling Black and Tan in a western tandem double rig. Gimme a big 10-4.

Looks like we got us a convoy!. I’ll just take the draught in the rocking chair.

Anyone seen my extra long straw?

For those sequestered stateside, and should the Guinness supply dwindle for a time:
Fly in to KPAE for the Future of Flight tour, take a tour of Mac & Jacks to load up on a few gallons of your favorite (Bring your own jugs/kegs and get ‘em filled). Then take it across the lake to The Museum of Flight, and end the day with dinner at Anthony’s Grill or Woodfire restaurant at Everett marina.

Approach plates available for those kinda days, where breaking out of the goo takes your breath away…in a nice sorta way. Fly out the next day, a great time having been had by all.

  • Marine6

Damn, Lex! Now you can tell the doc that you are down to “just one Guinness before dinner.” And you can do it with a straight face.

    Merry Christmas.

    Marine 6 sends.

    You people make me weep.

Over two years ago I was diagnosed with a form of pancreatic cancer (the Steve Jobs serious kind, not the REALLY serious Patrick Swayze kind) with liver involvement. The doctors said no more alcohol. So I can’t HAVE a Guinness.

So, here I am crying in my Pepsi because you people keep taunting me with what I can’t have!

Hoist one for me, will ya?

Jeez, no more trips to Busch Gardens, I guess….or is it still there now that Auggie Jr. isn’t running the show? Hang tough. Tough call….but considering the alternative… Had a friend auger in overnight from that stuff a few years ago…not nice. Best take up Chinese Checkers to occupy your mind.. Would suggest chess but let’s not add ulcers to the list…. :)

(PS:Have they torn down the old Chain ‘o Rocks Bridge yet? I know the replacement has been up for some time…)

      • Dave in St. Louis

        Thanks.

The Old Bridge is now part of a system of trails. You can walk or bike across the river there.

Virgil- alas, no mas cerveza: http://www.suntimes.com/lifestyles/travel/northamerica/1393488,TRA-News-briefs25.stng

It was a good thing while it lasted, even if it was free, but watery big-brewery beer.

NORAD says that the Claus chap just left the pole. I did not see anything large and cylindrical in the sleigh.
