The Bloom

Has it come off the rose?

Yesterday’s news was the president’s back tracking on a campaign promise to hold bicameral discussions on reconciling the House and Senate versions of the health care bill on C-SPAN. Today’s news appears to be the unwillingness of the president’s spokesman to talk about, and the news media digging in.

It’s good to see the media doing their job again, comforting the afflicted and afflicting the comfortable. Let’s be optimistic and hope that it lasts almost up to the next national election.

Optimism is all well and good, but we also have to be realistic.

When even c-span is going after the president and congress everyone should be taking notice. I am sure they want to hide the negotiations so they can put in all sorts of pork and amendments to get the votes needed to pass. The bribes in the form of pork or special exemptions that have been paid so far will pale in comparison.

It is about time the media holds the liberal democrats feet to the fire. Obama promised to have the most open government process including the health care reform (takeover) ever. I guess a man is as good as his word!

My world was personally turned upside down this morning when I saw a you-tube of Jack Cafferty lambasting Obama. What has the world come to? Now if only a small creature would burst out of Nancy Pelosi’s chest and eat her face on national TV I think I could be happy again . . . is that too far?

H/T a commenter on Lex’s link, has Baghdad Bob resurfaced as Bob Gibbs?

  • Brian R

They never said what exactly would be transparent – in this case it’s Gibbs’ excuses. So at least they’re keeping that campaign promise!
